It's because of these birds
Edited on Tue Sep-06-11 10:21 AM by Dyedinthewoolliberal
that I need to get a DSLR. They are fascinating to me and my point and shoot just doesn't do them justice. A local 'nature' area near me provides opportunities for photos like this....

and these

1. Wow I love that web!!
That's amazing.

Well, I certainly do NOT want to discourage you from getting a DSLR, and at some point I might even get one, but I am happy with my Lumix with extreme zoom--

Lumix DMC-FZ100 14.1 MP Digital Camera with 24x Optical Image Stabilized Zoom and 3.0-Inch LCD (Black)

I chased a hawk into a tree the other day, and could barely see him because he was in the shade, and I was in the sun, and I got this photo..........

Taking photos of birds is so much fun that sometimes I wonder why I bother with anything else. I love photography of any kind, but nothing satisfies me as much as sneaking up on a bird and capturing it. But setting up shots with tripods, etc. doesn't appeal to me much. I generally like to move around more than that.

6. Real winners with the webs. Hard to chose between them, they each have
great strengths.
