Can anyone recommend a camera backpack?
Edited on Thu Feb-10-11 02:02 PM by NV Whino
I have the D300 with the 28-200 mm. 60 mm macro with the possibility of a 500 mm in the future (probably mirrored) and lots of small misc stuff. I would like to be able to strap on a tripd as well. Don't want to spend a fortune either. I've looked on the intertubes, and the search is daunting. A starting point would help. thanks.

P.S. I'm 5'2" so need something relatively small.

1. If you are looking for a purely camera backpack,
I am very happy with my ThinkTank Glass Taxi. Very comfortable, highly configurable. The newer StreetWalker series looks pretty good, too.

2. I had a Lowepro
that I liked a lot. I sold it with the Nikon SLR when I switched to digital.

I'm 5' and carry my Canon 3 lenses and whatnot... absolutely love it! Very comfortable anywhere - even biking... has options for addons

4. I also like myLowepro, but it's not a backpack
It rests comfortably at your waist in front of you where it's handy. It has a strap going over your shoulders and a belt around your waist, It comes with two lens cases (removable) strapped handily on each side. You can buy other lens cases of other sizes for bigger or smaller lenses.

5. I use that same rig.
Mine is seven years old and has seen some rough use. It still works like new, so I'm a big fan of the brand. I think the OP would be better off with a slingbag or traditional camera backpack if she wants to carry a tripod with her, though. Lowepro offers a lot of good choices.

6. Thanks to all
I'll check out the suggestions. I have a Lowepro for the camera with the 28-200, but I want a grab and go bag for everything and the potential of an additional lens.

7. I have a Tamrac
I don't know which model, but it's got room for a laptop, camera, a couple lenses and a fairly large compartment for cords, rechargers, remotes, etc. Plus space for safe storage of storage cards. It's all very padded, which, I'm embarrassed to say, I know works well.

9. I'm leaning toward
The Tamrac Expedition 4.

It's a bit bigger than I need, but the next smaller seems too small. It got a solid 5 star rating, although most everyone complains about the zipper being difficult.
