A few random shots from late October
Trumpeter swans (and friends) rest at Potter Marsh on their way south. Late afternoon light was amazing.

I went for the sunset and got ducks as a bonus. :)

Moose on the lawn, just hangin' out

This is a good thing to keep in mind for you transient aircraft parkers.

I tried out a night shot. A windy night, at that, which caused a little tripod shake. I like the faint glimmer of the mountains in the background, though.

We often go to the tapings of Shannyn Moore's local TV show, "Moore Up North." Here she's sharing a laugh with the also-ran Republican gubernatorial candidate Bill Walker (actually, the best of three who ran in the primary, a real stand-up guy); Tom Begich, Mark's brother, who is an astute election observer; and Tank Jones, everybody's favorite body guard and PI. This was between segments when someone in the audience said something that made everyone laugh. I like how relaxed everyone looks.

This is Spenard Lake where you can park your transient aircraft for free.

If you haven't been to my "photos of the day" in a while, they're here: http://northernvisions.smugmug.com/Photography/Photo-of-The-Day-2010/10840010_6Z4Zw#1069387932_UMx8K

2. Our urban moose are almost like pets.
Still, I stayed in the car for this shot, which explains the utility pole in the middle of the picture. I would like to have maneuvered around a little, but this was a mother and kids, so even though they've grown since spring, I didn't want to take any chances.

3. Sunset and Ducks
Oh, that is SO beautiful. That needs to be on walls, posters, postcards, everything. The rest are slices of life--moose, transient aircrafts, etc. Love it.
