You have given me today. I am an older than dirt, retired US Navy Chief Petty Officer that does not believe in things such as limits or boundaries. I am now a dual National, I make my home on the Island of Raiatea the Sacred Island the original home of the Hawaiians, the Maori's of New Zealand and the Cultural and Religious Center of Oceania. We have the Marae Taputapuatea the most sacred place in the Pacific for the Polynesians. The place that the Arii Nui would return to every 2 or 3 years to renew their bonds and rebuild their "Mana". We have the Mountain Temehani, the Sacred Mt. where a flower that is one of the rarest plants in the world grows. The Tiare Apetahi, The Sacred Flower of Raiatea or Hava'iki Nui, as it was called in the time of the Navigators. Those Polynesians that sailed the worlds largest ocean without a compass or a chart and seemed to miraculously find their way from Island Nation to Island Nation without problems. I started photography quite late in life, my wife and daughter wanted me to take photos while I was back in the US taking care of my mother and so I bought myself a 35mm Minolta and things just sorta went on that slippery slope from that... It wasn't until I got my hands on a digital that I really decided that I wanted to master this incredible undertaking. I shoot, shoot, shoot and shoot some more... I am never tired of learning and gratefully accept all critiques I learn better if there are those who like to teach guide me in making myself the best I can be...
I am including the following 2 photos for all of you, the first is for the ladies it is of the Tiare Apetahe (google it) and the 2nd is for the guys... It is of the Navigators Marae at Taputapuatea (google that also)
