Creeeeepy doll store photos
Today I went to a demonstration against Virginia Foxx
http://downwithtyranny.blogspot.com/2010/08/and-our-craziest-republican-of-month.html

who was speaking at the opening of new Headquarters for the Tea baggers in Mocksville, the center of a small ruby red Republican NC county.

Waiting for her I found this Doll Store.
I was fascinated.

I kept thinking, I don't want to live nearby, just in case there is a knock on the door at night accompanied by little scratches on the door and a strange voice asking to be let in.

Guess I'm behind the times.

2. gosh, pierced ears and so much more!
I make dolls to sell and "reborn" dolls are the hottest thing on the market. Very realistic and life like they are an art form and not creepy at all. Here is my website www.tinastots-dolls.com but I mostly do toddler and large size dolls, not infants.

4. OH, I knew somewhere in there I would offend someone, and I'm sorry it was you.
But I could not be dishonest in how I felt about this wondrous assortment of unreality, which is how it feels to ME.
That does not mean it feels that way to YOU, and others.

I think I remember you posting here before. Welcome back, and I hope the next time I don't step into your lively hood and personal interest.
We're all Democrats, and still different. I really like it that way.

5. I like this spot . . .
when I get totally stressed out, I come here and look at the pictures and it calms me. I was excited to see pictures of dolls, I have collected for years, well for generations actually. My grandmother collected dolls, my mother collected dolls and the love of them has passed to me. Sadly, I never had a daughter and my only son was killed in a car accident last year so I don't know where my dolls will go when I am gone. Reborn artists have taken a lot of critisism for the dolls being "too" realistic and people treating them that way. But it is an art form just like pottery or painting or even photography. I don't neccessary like mass produced dolls now since I primarily like my own and tend to compare them to mine :) )but there are some artists I like. I believe the one with the pierced ears is A Fazah Spanos doll. She always puts big lips on her dolls which I don't particularly like but they are always very expressive. If you would like to know more, google in "reborn dolls" and see what you find. It is pretty amazing. Some go on ebay for thousands of dollars.

6. Thank you for not holding against me
that I am unfortunately completely clueless.

My mother collected dolls from all over the part of the globe she lives in. I had no sensitivity for her love of them. She lives in an old age home now, and there isn't a doll in sight, and I have not asked her where they are.
If anything comes from this interaction, it will be my being sensitive to her having had to give up something she loved.

I am so sad about you losing your son.
I know that I would be devastated beyond redemption should I lose my one and only son.

Keep coming around.
Keep looking in on us, and talk to us.
I'm glad I remembered you.

8. thats sad about you mom . . .
when I worked at the nursing home, I would take my dolls there for them to see. It is amazing to see what happens to a confused or upset resident when they are given a baby doll to hold. Most of them go right into "mother" mode and calm right down. I remember one man that had alzheimers pretty bad at the nursing home. He would wander a lot and try to "escape" all the time. It was a chore to keep an eye on him and keep him from taking off. One night after he had made several "escape" attempts, I asked him if he would keep an eye on my "baby" and stay there with him for a few minutes. When I came back he was still standing in the same spot, but he was leaned over the table and tickling the dolls chin and making baby talk to it. When he saw me, he just broke into the biggest grin like he was his old happy self. So even men can benefit from dolls.
I started giving "doll making" lessons to the residents that wanted and we made babies together. I did 90 percent of the work but let them do the stuffing and some of the final details as they were able. They were so proud of the babies they made and would go around the nursing home holding them in their arms and showing off their babies to anyone that would stop and pay attention to them. So, I consider them good therapy. Check with the activity director at her place and see if she knows anyone locally that makes dolls, especially reborn dolls, and have them bring some one to share with the residents.

9. Your dolls are beautiful.
It's very sweet what you did for those folks at the nursing home. My grandma, whose still all there at 95yo, loves doing arts and crafts. I can understand how making and holding those dolls would help the residents. Nurturing is a very powerful human instinct.

7. Good gosh
Your dolls are amazing!!

I was not into dolls myself, but my oldest daughter absolutely loved dolls. She brought a dog home once that chewed up her dolls. She was so upset. You know what? Her boyfriend at the time got them fixed for her at a doll hospital type place for her birthday. That was it! They are married now.

3. You make me laugh!!!
I get what you mean though... dolls have always creeped me out! I always played with Tonka trucks with horse trailers and horses; the closest I got to having dolls was Pebbles and Bam Bam from the Flintstones!

That last one looks like JonBenet Ramsey...
