Nursing home "old time" photos I took . . .
I work at a nursing home and for National Nursing home week, thought it would be fun to dress staff and residents and do "old time photos". Everyone loved it, staff and residents alike and I got some amazing shots that brought tears to my eyes. Without the color, without the nursing home "dress", the residents became entirely different people. Even the ones with dementia responded to the beautiful clothing and hats. Here are a few pics I loved . . .

2. A perfect example of
when you do something special like that everybody wins. Great idea and wonderful results. The sepia is perfect.

And it illustrates what gets me every time I go and look at paintings of the old masters: The looks of humans have not changed at all over the centuries ('cept for the eye glasses).

7. The second one down . . . .
The second lady down has severe dementia, I didn't even dare move her over to the wall for pictures in case it would set her off. She rarely responds to stimuli of any kind but she let me dress her and she held her head up for the picture, which she never does. I love the weathered look of her face, there are a million stories locked inside that face.

9. Wonderful photos
but I must admit I thought the person in the second photo was a man. Kudos to you for doing this.

10. They keep her hair really short . . .
Funny you should say that, her nickname is "Ernie". We usually have opposite problem with her in that she likes to undress wherever and whenever she pleases. At times she has managed to get her shirt off and will be sitting in the dining hall with nothing on top and happy as a clam about it! Most of the time she sticks with just taking off her shoes and socks though. I was suprised she let me dress her up since she likes to undress so much.
I am not sure of her age, I think she has just had a hard life and it shows on her face.
