Shot outside my zone (photo heavy)
last night. I'm an older student at WSU, much older. For some unknown reason the younger students have bought me into their circle, I think they like my stories. Last night some of the local bands asked me to shoot the battle of the bands. Things like that tend to be a mixed lighting nightmare in which a photographer has very little control. Here are a few:

2. thanks!
my friends were a mixture of rap and rhythm and blues, one singer would rap the lyrics and the other would r&b them.

3. Very limited DU time today (never a bad thing)
but I wanted to say thanks for posting these and it's real nice to see you hereabouts. I'm a little worried about this group recently, which is awful because it's about the last place on DU I still find compelling.

If these are outside your zone, as you say, they're nonetheless excellent, and proof that a photographer with a keen eye can venture outside the zone and find extraordinary things. Having the technical skill to do so doesn't hurt either, of course.

I'm saddened by how slow-moving the Photo Group has become, and how little compulsion people seem to have to comment on each other's work recently. I hope by giving this a kick that maybe others will come forward and comment, positively or otherwise. Posting here recently has been like playing to an empty house, though the thread views indicate that the house isn't empty, it's just mute.

Again, good to see you here, and thanks. These are richly rewarding viewing.

4. Well, in my case I do a lot of my viewing from "far afield" using an internet tablet
where I have to type on a virtual keyboard with a stylus. I always have good intentions of coming back and revisiting the photos when I get home, but I don't always do so.

6. I think my post above looks like a call-out, which isn't what I intended.
But I really am worried about the group. I used to worry about the rest of this site too, but no longer care much.

I know what you mean about good intentions. It's been the same for me recently during a couple of very busy months, and I've missed some good stuff.

Hey, in any case, we're keeping this post kicked!:)

5. Excellent work. I have some acquaintances that do this professionally, and you
have better photos here than many that I've seen them get paid for.
