2. This vantage is one of my favorites. The street bends about a block
behind where I was standing and begins a long downhill slope and suddenly downtown looms up. The telephoto exaggerates the sense of proximity a little, but even to the naked eye the skyline looks close here, though it's four miles away.
4. Thanks, alfredo. I almost went with the color version of 4
but your comments about a black and white spring made me rethink it. The desaturation serves the light so well. I've done a larger version of this for a new Flickr set, and cropped to the original aspect ratio to get rid of the blown wall on the right and a redundant bit of sky. Other than that one part of the scene, the sunshine hitting these mundane things was revelatory once I ditched the color.
