It was well-deserved. I loved it at first sight, and not to slight anyone who had entries that did better in the contest, it was bewildering to me that it didn't get more votes.

There's just no telling how it's going to go.

Wow...that makes http://journals.democraticunderground.com/regnaD%20kciN/51">getting up at two in the morning (or so) on my 52nd birthday and being in a near-catatonic state the rest of the day even more worth it! ;-)

And congratulations to all the other finalists, too...this was a really great set of submissions. You know the times when you look at entries as they're coming in, and see one that you immediately recognize as "the sure winner"...? I did that for at least three or four of these entries.

By the way, soup, that was a great job running your first contest. I know it isn't the first time you've won a contest, but the other time was a Seasonal, so you didn't have to host the next one. Which reminds me...

...there is one thing: I'm going to have to remind myself to not enter December contests in the future. This is going to be the second time I've found myself hosting the January contest, then having to do the Winter Seasonal Contest a few days thereafter. I suspect that, by mid-February, I'll be hoping I never see another "enter a poll" form again...
