2. I like the one in full color also
The B & W one might be interesting if you desaturated the flag a bit, keeping some of the color but not all. Just a thought.

4. You took the words right out of my mouth.
What bothers me in the full color version is that the reds in the photo in general seem to clash.
If the b/w one had a soft red flag, then I would be very happy.

3. For what it's worth (not to be confused with Buffalo Springfield)
Edited on Thu Nov-05-09 03:44 PM by Adsos Letter
The B & W shot has a lot of really good lines and shadows, and the emotive effect, to me anyway, of the rebel flag combined with the B&W subject suggests a lot of interesting interpretations on themes of sectionalism, rebellion, southern culture, futility, endurance, defiance, memory...

I agree with Blue that the color shot is very nice; but the flag seems to fight with the bricks, leaves, and grass...or not. But, maybe there is meaning there also.

Neither of us are helped by the fact that I am reading through a section of books on antebellum America at the moment.

Note to Adso: Sometimes a flag is just a flag.

I am of absolutely no help here.

EDIT to add: I agree with Mz Pip; the flag in #1 might benefit from some desaturation, or, the same might apply for the flag in #2...

Or not.
