I don't think I've posted this picture here before. This is a self-portrait. I don't know what possessed me to get a tattoo at 48 years of age, but I did it. It hurt! A lot!

2. It's obvious that you have spent a bit of time behind a camera.

Your use of nice soft light is wonderful if for no other reason than the fact that most people wouldn't even notice.

I'm going to guess that you're familiar with the name David Hobby.

3. Yes, but I'm not really into all the flash stuff

I've read Strobist a bit and played with my flash unit but I really prefer natural light. And yes, I definitely notice the light. I live in a condo and there's another building right next to us, so we don't really get direct light in that window -- it's usually nice and soft.
