Photo Club Scavenger Hunt
Tonight at my local photo club meeting, we tried a fun exercise. One member made a list of six items that we had to shoot within an hour's time. The fun part was, we could only shoot ONE image of each item. After the hour was up, we headed up to one of the member's apartment and showed our work. It was a really fun exercise, and really made you stop and pay close attention to your subject matter before pressing the shutter button. All photos were taken within a four block area. (I added the borders and made a few tiny tweaks when I got home after the meeting.)

Taking only a single photo of a subject turns out to be very challenging, especially in this age of digital. Here are my efforts.

A Red Wheeled Cart

A Pink Rose

A Beacon

A Whirly Gig

A Directional Light Pole

A Praying Mantis

5. One of the most clever and funny responses I have ever seen here.
Congrats Mz Pip! I like how you did that.

2. You did a very good job with this challenge.
If I can't take 10 exposures of the same thing, I feel like it's hopeless. Come to think of it, sometimes 10 exposures still leave me feeling hopeless.

3. Well hi you!
Of course your pictures are fantastic. I remember your beach shots, a lighthouse I think, and some kind of colorful hanging things at a beach market.

These are great and what a fun way to really force yourself to find more possibilities than you would have otherwise.

8. Hi Sandnsea!
Impressive memory. :-) I've been shooting a lot lately but very rarely post here. I do check out photo group every day though to see what other folks are shooting!

4. In another life, after loading film in the camera, that'spretty much how I did it.
I had a monthly (limited) budget figure for development and printing.
Well, now that I am remembering, even then I took more than one, hoping for the better shot.

This is a fun and contemplative thing you did, and I love your photos, very much especially the last two.

6. That looks like a lot of fun to do.
And, you did well with it.

I am usually a one shot photographer. I like to think of it as 'Zen Photography'. I see an image, photograph my impression of it and then walk on to the next scene. For me, it is the act of taking the photograph as much as it is capturing an image. I rarely crop and never change the image in any other way. It is fun to learn how people do it differently.

10. This is hysterical. (Love the street scene with the directional Light Pole - and love
the capture of the restaurant sign)
Praying Mantis wins again.
