Stalking a red winged blackbird in the weeds by the lake-results
First, here is next year's "Spring" entry, entitled "Is it a flower, or Is it a Weed?". The blackbird is nearby, right by the lake.

A sort of regular blackbird pose

And another

Squawk!

Sideways

From the back, the red sticks out

Pack up all my Cares and Woe, Here I go, singing low. Bye Bye Blackbird!

1. First one: Winner next spring. It's gorgeous. For the others....
I can't believe all I learn hanging out here. There are birds that look like that?
And the third photo of the beautiful creature will make Maestro do a double take.
Too cool.
How did you even find that bird, and I love it worked our for you to get the shots, especially the third one.

3. I learn a lot here too
For instance, the name of that creature. I posted a pretty bad picture of it a few weeks ago and some people knew the name.

Honestly I have never seen a single one of these near my house, but three miles away at Shelby Farms there are thousands of these. However, I have not found them to be particularly cooperative about being photographed. This one was not that skittish.

It's much easier to get pictures of them in the weeds than in the tops of trees. These birds, more than any others, like to sit on the very tippy top of trees. So they are easy to find but I would need a better lens and a tripod to get a really great picture. I do have lots of pictures of them like that, but they aren't worth posting.

redwing blackbird or a tricolor, depending if the red band is red, not orangish red, and light band is white or light orange. It's calling and you can see its breath.

Anyway, they are beautiful birds and you captured them well.

4. Wow - all over again. I have none of these in my very heavily feeder populated
back yard, the neighborhood hangout for hungry and thirsty birds.
Alfredo - I bet this is a favorite in your file, and it should be. It is a sister shot to Celebrations' number 3 shot to me.
I gotta get off this forum for a while, lest I will turn into a visual photo junkie and be good for nothing other than hanging out here and posting opinions, wanted or not.

6. That image won an award for the photographer. Redwings stay near water.
I haven't seen one for years. I live in a place for warblers, Wrens, Grackles, Sparrows, Chickadees, Finches, and the dynamic duo: Robins and Jays.

9. These guys typically hang out near lakes and ponds
They love cattails. If you have a pond nearby with cattails, you can probably find a whole herd of them.

Love that last shot, by the way. Great catch.
