Is your lens scratched?

These guys rent out lenses - and they have made a demonstration of the result using a lens that has been slightly damaged:

I had to clean a fingerprint off the back lens of a 24-70 I rented from them. No biggie. Still, that's pretty interesting!

2. one thing to recall

front elements on telephotos don't matter so much, rear ones do

rear elements on wide angles are less important than front
