1. I really like the desultory mood of #4 in particular.
I'm not a 'fan' of the B&W (I'm old enoough to recall when it was the only way) but I'd think that photo would look terrific with desaturated colors. It's about the posture if the subjects and mood of the weather.

I go back and forth with color and B&W. For some reason, I seem to gravitate to B&W whenever I shoot people. It has a certain timelessness to it.

3. I agree with you on b&w for people
I tend to think it's because color can be distracting. B&W tends to help you focus on the face more, the line, shape, and form.
