if you are looking for critiques here, you generally need to ask for it specifically. Most people shy away from giving any constructive criticism, unless it is requested, particularly because feelings have unintentionally been hurt here before.

If you are just looking for responses of any kind, keep in mind that people on here are really busy this week and distracted from everything because of the convention. It's really not personal.

I assume you are talking about your "Lone man" thread. I glanced at it yesterday, but didn't have time to comment; I think it is a lovely piece, but I wish the man was in slightly more focus.

it happens to me all the time, too. Sometimes I post something that gets lots of comments, and other times not a word. I don't take it personally. In fact, as I'm looking back now on this page, my last two photo posts got no responses at all, only my political posts because I was needing some support.

I always enjoy your photos and 48's because I've never been to Europe and probably will never get the chance to go. I love seeing what you're seeing.

10. I'm still playing catch up from before vacation

and already ready to give up on ever catching up for while I was gone so I know I am going to miss some beautiful photos. I hate missing someone's photos dammit. I know I haven't left many comments for a while. That damn real life thing keeps interfering with my DU time and this is the first place I hit on DU. I want to see everyone's photos first, that part is a joy for me. Yours and 48percenters make me yearn for the time and money to visit Europe plus love seeing your take on here when you visit. I always plan on going back through and commenting but seem to make it less and less. Then by the time I can sit I think I go brain-dead and lose my vocabulary and typing skills. If I ever actually found time to sit down and do it I could probably write a short book on here about each person's photos and what is special about them to me. Don't think for a minute that just because there are no replies that at least some of us aren't looking and more important enjoying them and the brightness they bring into our lives.

I think it is like others have said...sometimes people look but don't respond. It seems like it happens to everyone here. I always find it curious that some pictures get lots of "views" but no comments.

13. I've been taking a break and haven't been around recently.

I plan on catching up on DU this weekend. Sometimes posts don't get any replies - I'm not sure why. As mentioned above, I think it helps if you specifically ask for feedback. I like your pictures. Please don't get discouraged.
