More than just a silly ocean
My son-in-law is building a customer's house out by one of the lakes so we went out there today. I still haven't replaced my camera, so I just used the point and shoot.

We've got 17 lakes in about a 20 mile radius.

The top of that tree, I love trees.

A picture of town from across the river, with blue sky!

Siuslaw Bridge, a 1930's historic McCullough Bridge. I think this one turned out particularly well.

1. I like that bridge...
that is a beautiful part of Oregon. You said your son was building a home for someone there; how are the trades doing in that part of the country?

2. meh, so-so
He was panicking a bit, but got a call yesterday for a job after the house is done. He usually is so busy bidding and working with clients that he doesn't have time to build. I think our zoning regulations protected us from some of the overbuilding in other places. Just when the developers really started pushing, the mortgage crash came, so there's no pushing anymore. I think the loss of salmon and gas prices are hurting us at least as much as the mortgage crunch.

Those old bridges are terrific. I'm glad most towns on the coast work hard to keep them.

and I lived and worked up in Amity for a couple of years. oregon is beautiful, but I had trouble with the number of overcast days up at the northern end of the Willamette Valley...beautiful country but not good for depression.
