1. I had to go with my running guy...
He's the only sign of spring I see around here, except for teeny, tiny little perennial sprouts that you need a magnifying glass to look at. Obviously, we're running late because I think I used baby bleeding hearts last year on May 1 and this year they're barely visible.

7. Blue,
I liked your first entry better, the irony was priceless. Running in snow with shorts on!

Thankfully our snow is GONE! But it is still there in the higher elevations, this is the first year that I have seen alot of contrast with the snow on the mountains and the valleys greening up. It's just so picturesque. :hi:

17. You may be right...
The first photo was more ironic, but the second one was more representative of how it's been around here, so that's why I chose it. I liked all the variations of water in that picture -- water, ice, snow, clouds.

For this contest I wasn't "in it to win it" because I knew everybody else would have flowers and color and photos more appropriate to spring.

We still have a tiny bit of snow here and there in the shady places, and it just won't warm up, but it can't be too much longer now...I hope.

...please post it in the submission thread, as a "reply" to your original entry there, so that I remember when I'm compiling entries before the prelims.

11. Full disclosure
The photo I entered was given an "Honorable Mention" last week in the South Beach Photomarathon, a competition in which more than 100 photographers were required to take 24 photos under certain topics in less than five hours.

When I logged on to DU today to give an update on my trial, I noticed the contest theme was Spring. At first, I thought I didn't have any photos that I have not already used in a previous DU contest.

And it's not like there is a grand difference between spring in Miami and winter in Miami.

But then I realized I had the perfect photo.

Spring Break.

Read about the Honorable Mention on my blog (damn, I'm pimping the hell out of my blog today).

12. I love the colors in that, Raging.
That's just great. Hey, did you see I got a 5D? :)

13. That's awesome!
When did you get that?

The 5D's true brilliance comes through in low-light situations. You can shoot that at 3200 ISO with barely any digital noise.

14. A little before Christmas.
And I've noticed that about the low light, especially with the fast lenses. I can't wait for summer when we can get out and really put it through its paces. This winter's been too long. :)
