3. It was a bit intimidating, but my new skis are
absolutely amazing for carving and edging. The new skis have given me a great deal of confidence or stupidity (not sure which yet?) They are so forgiving, several times I lost my balance but was able to recover without a crash. Before, if I leaned back on my skis I would wipe out, on these when you lean back they dig into the snow. :)

In fact, I was down the hill almost on flat ground when I caught an edge wrong and about flipped ass over tea-kettle!

Here's the black diamond hill, it was pretty tame. So will you come again before the snow is gone? :toast:

7. Ich bin sehr mutig!
Season? I don't know, it's supposed to be 12C here this coming weekend. I fear if we don't get more snow it will all be over by mid-March. :(

2. Definitely not boring
pictures! The mountains are great! We have no such beast here.

We finally have enough snow to ski here (x-country for me) but when I have time, it's too cold! Grrrrr . . .

Congrats on skiing the Black Diamond!

10. Nice, 48...
...and the weather looks beautiful. It's bad here. After all that sub-zero stuff, today it's 45 and drippy! Backcountry conditions are really awful -- two snowmachiners got killed in an avalanche over the weekend.

12. I heard about that accident!
Take care, spring IS around the corner, it's almost March. Do you notice that spring is coming earlier and earlier for you each year? These should be the snowiest months in Bavaria, but it's been sunny, cool days, no clouds for almost 3 weeks. It's coming to an end tomorrow I hear, BUT on the weekend it is going up to 60F!! Crazy.

I am actually sad to see winter go, now that I have rediscovered skiing. :(

15. We never know what to expect...
For several years we were getting spring earlier and earlier, but the past couple of years it's been cooler into June. Some winters we get several thaws, but this year has been pretty consistently cold up until just the past few days. What triggered the avalanche apparently was all the new snow on top of a thick layer of hoar frost. They haven't been able to recover the bodies yet because of the treacherous conditions and a blizzard in the pass. It's really sad -- these two were experienced snowmachiners who have even made movies. All the experience in the world counts for little when the conditions are like this.

It's supposed to cool back down toward the end of the week which is good because our Fur Rendezvous is starting this weekend with the dog sled sprint races, snow carvings, etc. Hopefully everything won't melt. The snow sculptors are waiting until the last minute to start working on their blocks.

11. Oh you and your boring Alps
Alps Alps Alps. How many times do you think we can stand to look at the most majestic mountain range in the world.

Those were great. Post them every day!!! And congratulations on your skiing, whatever it is, I don't ski.

:hi:

13. I am sitting upstairs on our 3rd level and beyond the
leaveless trees, I can see the Alps. It is so beautiful, they are calling me to go skiing this weekend. LOL. :hi:
