What would cause this?

Sorry about the pic. It's pretty 'off' - but beyond that - wondered if someone could tell me what's causing the ghost (for lack of a better word) on the far left. Could it have something to do with the angle of the sun? reflections off the water?

1. That is called lens flare. It's caused by light hitting the lens front

element at an angle and being "prisimed" (is that a word?) into the image. Use a lens hood or shade the lens with your hand.

Sort of figured the sun or reflection had something to do with it. It was taken about 8 o'clock this morning. I'd tried to get as much of an angle on it as I could (without falling into the pond) to avoid being blinded by facing into the sunlight.

Guess I should find the lens hood, keep it in the bag - and remember to use it. Then again, using my hand sounds easier - I'm so darned lazy.
