Angels I shot last year
Edited on Wed May-11-05 05:35 AM by superconnected

These are my nieces. I bought Halloween wings from a local department store and took them to a thift store for the clothes. these were shot using a $100 samsung digital camera, that broke on me in December.

Blame regnad kcin for me posting them, he said I ought to.

Critique for improvement is appreciated.

Oh, this camera didn't have a back light so it ruined tons of photos, and then I got a whole angel series with random patches of fog in them(sunny day with no fog)??? in a shoot in the grave yard with these wings on.

one of the many many fog pics I got. I couldn't see the fog in the viewer so I didn't know till I got home and down loaded the pics. The fog showed up in lots of pics, each in different spots - down on the ground in random corners, etc.

The image is distorted from being blown down. I had no settings on the camera. I'm probably the only person here that hates photoshop? I know it might help but seriously I loathe it too much.

3. Fog? Or ghosts?
OK, fog is more probable, but geesh! It's in a graveyard! It could be a little ectoplasm hangin' out.

I like the top photos, especially the second one of the girl on the rocks by the water. The top one is interesting with the dark wings, but those same wings make it a little difficult to see that they are wings. Still, I like it.

4. Condensation between glass groups?
Had the camera been cold, like air conditioned, then taken out in warm, humid conditions?

7. Instead of Photoshop, take a look at Picture Window Pro.

(not the most exciting name) http://www.dl-c.com/

I first tried a loaner of Photoshop, then got Adobe Photoshop Elements, which seemed more manageable, and then tried Picture Window which, by contrast, seemed to work in an understandable way. It lets you do just the most basic things like changing size or brightness easily but there seems to be no upper limit. The author was a programmer for Electronic Arts in the early days, and after making the bucks, turned his talents toward his love of photography. I've done a little darkroom work, and the "logic" of the interface seems very natural to me. So far, I've done only the most basic things, but it seems to work on images in the way most photographers would.

Another program to look at is Irfanview. It is free, and lets you do the the basic things like adjusting size, exposure and color very easily, plus a whole lot more. http://www.irfanview.com/ It is a very easy place to start if you want to see how digital processing operates.

(Edit: how the hell did Irfanview appear as Irvine? I suspect that that is the downside of offering spell checkers to erratic mousers.)

5. I don't smoke and I've always carried my camera in my purse so it

shouldn't have been that much a change in temperature.

Anyway, so many photos ruined and the fog was in different places each time.

I suppose there's no way to fix it.

6. also, I've always wanted to do some pics with models

downtown Seattle (not far from me) and put in props like coke cans, different hats etc. You know, create scenes, and maybe some product scenes.

Do I want to be a professional photographer? NO. I just want to do some cool photo spreads to add to my tiny online photo site. It would look impressive...
