I don't usually like to come in here with political stuff, BUT
would you guys mind signing this petition? This issue of stopping the Pebble Mine is near and dear to my heart. The potential disastrous consequences to the Bristol Bay salmon fisheries is mind-boggling. I'm not 100 percent against mining, but mining in this particular area of Alaska could be catastrophic to the livelihoods of so many commercial fishermen, not to mention the subsistence hunters and fishers. Thanks for your help.

7. Thanks, you guys, I really appreciate it.
Here's a little further information for you.

A mega-disaster is just waiting to happen if this project goes through. Please encourage everyone you know to sign the petition and help us stop this thing. It's very unpopular here.

9. Done, but...
...I must say that I'm not thrilled with petition sites that require you to submit not only your e-mail address but also your entire street address (sounds like the site's mainly in the business of selling mailing lists) and then "offers" to automatically sign you up for a selection of such lists unless you uncheck a whole bunch of boxes.

Next time I wind up on such a site, I don't think I'll sign, no matter what the cause.

10. Thanks for setting aside your qualms
just this once. This proposed mine has me and a whole lot of other people really, really disturbed. I don't know what it's going to take to stop these f***ers, but I'm willing even to get on somebody's mailing list if it means I can add my voice to the debate.

With ANWR, some people can argue that it's a matter of national interest or whatever to take that oil out of the ground (although I disagree), but there is absolutely NO greater good to be gained by destroying this major salmon spawning area and delicate ecosystem for the sole purpose of increasing the profits of a huge Canadian mining conglomerate. It just makes my head spin.

It sickens me when I see the ads that they've been running up here where they use Natives from the area talking about how it will create jobs for their families and such. That kind of exploitation really pisses me off, especially when it will destroy the very subsistence that these people have been relying on for thousands of years.

I'm done ranting now. Thanks again for signing this, regnaD, and if you can think of some other way that we can stop this, let me know. :)
