It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas!

NOT!! Although there are plenty of Christmas decorations in my neighborhood, the entire Coast is socked in for the second day in a row. usedtobesick was stuck in Atlanta trying to fly in yesterday, and though he made it in today about mid-day, I have a volunteer stuck in Atlanta tonight because the fog is still so dense. Anyway, I thought I'd go out and see if I could get some interesting Christmas lights shots. In the end, this was the best Christmas shot I came away with. I'm not that happy with it and will probably submit something else to the contest.

Other than the elf barf, it's just not feeling that Christmasy.

Unless it's a Tim Burton kinda Christmas. :yoiks:

Here are a couple other scenes from our neighborood tonight:

1. I'm Digging on #3
For lights shots, consider a tri-pod and a release cable.

2. I know I should use a tripod.
But I hate using them, they're so awkward to carry and persnickety to set up. Over the years, I've worked to use impromptu camera stands and leaning on things like fences or rocks. The last shot was steadied by leaning on a fence. It's my favorite shot of the evening.

This shoot was complicated because it was combined with walking the dog. I thought the second shot was really good considering I was being tugged on by a 90 lb. lab/shepherd mix. :)
