I don't want to be a "daddy"
Most of you may or may not remember our little "pet" foxie that hangs out in our backyard. A few days ago I look out and see him..... then I see his SO !!

I'm pretty sure she may already be packing and I can't let her have the kits in our yard. I can't have 6 or more little foxies running around with The Dog. :(

I know that the females usually have a backup den or two so they can have the kits. It just sucks that they have nowhere to go since "we" took over their land when all these houses were built.

This is his SO. Can't believe she let me get this close. She did leave but was moving slowly... finally she left.

4. Not the male
The two have gotten used to each other. They usually just do a friendly glance with a "Good Day to you" nod. The Dog hasn't "met" the female yet.

2. And that hits a 10...
...on the "Awwwwww" Meter.

Great photo. I'll expect lots more from the F.Gordon Fox Preserve, formerly known as your backyard. ;-)

5. Awwwwww.......
My bad.
:spank:

If we didn't have The Dog I'd have no problem with a little Fox Preserve.

3. Foxy Lady!
She's a doll. You could try sitting down and having a little talk with the dog, but in my experience (a lecture about the neighborhood racoons) dogs just don't wanna hear it. Are there any humane wildlife relocation services where you are?

6. Ms F is on the case
I called before and was told to just keep trying to get her to leave the yard. Eventually, so they say, she'll get tired of seeing my ugly mug and go elsewhere to have the kits.

But Ms F already has a wildlife thing lined up for relocation if it comes to that.

I'd love for her to stay but The Dog and myself have this little communication problem.

7. Best left to the pros, once you can get them involved
Getting them involved is always the tough part.

11. Awww, what a gorgeous animal...
We have MANY foxes here in our neck of the woods in Germany, but they are so shy I think the only way to catch them on camera is with telephoto. I often see them late in the afternoon when the sun is setting, and that's around 3:30pm these days. Ugh.

That is a stunning picture. Contest material FGordon!!

who visits with Bertha and me on occasion. The pnotos were shot through a window screen, so they're a bit fuzzy.

19. Very nice. I could never get that close
About a year ago we asked bout' the male foxie and were told that if we wanted to "adopt" him to leave out some dog food. We decided not to. Besides, there are plenty of neighborhood critters that he can snack on.

We were also told that if you start feeding a fox it will expect you to feed it and if you've never heard a red fox yell/cry... it's very eerie. It sounds human. I'd imagine that many a ghost story was founded when a red fox was heard at night. It kinda' sounds like a child or woman screaming.
:scared:

Your little vixen is a cutie. Love the face.

Cats-R-Us. Do you need a Cat for the next Photo Contest? No problem. Just call 1-800-I NEED A CAT and we'll have one delivered right to your front door. Operators are standing by so call now!!

20. We Only See Her
when she's expecting a litter. She comes up on the porch and eats whatever the feral cats leave behind.

Bertha and I think she is quite lovely.
