A disturbing dream - natural disaster and MY CAMERA !!
Edited on Wed Mar-22-06 12:23 AM by Blue_In_AK
I had the most frightening dream last night. I woke up scared to death, and this is very unusual for me as I usually don't remember my dreams at all and I hardly ever have nightmares.

I was with a friend of mine at some hotel down around Juneau or somewhere, close to a glacier. We were sitting in the restaurant eating when I noticed billowing clouds of what looked like volcanic ash out in the street. The building started shaking a little bit, and we ran out into the street to see what was happening. Apparently there was a volcanic eruption somewhere just out of sight. The sky was darkening with ash, and the glacier was melting. Everyone was standing around watching this huge wall of mud and ice coming slowly towards us, kind of paralyzed watching it advance, like the people watching the tsunami coming in. But I was thinking, oh, crap, AND ME WITHOUT MY CAMERA! because I had left it up in the hotel room. I'm missing these GREAT SHOTS! I started to run back into the hotel to get it, even though the ground was shaking and the mud was getting closer and closer. My friend was trying to grab me to run, but I was determined to get the camera. She had to run off without me, and I was screaming after her, "I love you, Lisa." (She's my best friend and stood with me at my wedding.) I wasn't sure if I could get to my camera before the building collapsed, and I was panicking because I didn't want to lose it, and I wanted those shots so bad. The last thing I remember before I woke up in a cold sweat was wondering if my homeowner's insurance would cover the camera if it were lost.

What do you think? Am I obsessed or what?

1. Maybe just a
little. And see at least two obsessions. Haven't you all had a bit more volcanic activity up there? If you even think about photos in a natural disaster, start scouting out SAFE areas now. I think you are normal, but then I thought Raging was normal when he went out in Wilma. Risky, but normal.

2. Well, there's the volcano

and then I was reading all this stuff about the Mayan calendar and 12/21/12 right before I went to bed, not to mention the "apocalyse" reference in Bush's question-and-answer thing yesterday, so I think it all piled onto my subconscious just a little bit too hard last night. It was very strange, though, to have such a vivid dream, and one that actually made some sense, like it could really happen. I hope it wasn't prophetic in any way. :scared: I felt really weird for a couple hours when I first woke up, and never got completely right all day.

3. I hope it wasn't either.
Though sounds like you had a big dose of things that would cause nightmares. The Bush Q&A was enough to cause anyone nightmares alone, then to add more to it. I avoided the Q&A by cleaning a closet, it caused less pain and frustration. Maybe try some lite reading before bed after a day listening to pResident Evil.
On the prophetic part, I tend to not worry unless I repeatedly dream the same dream, then I worry something bad is going to happen. Though watching for the safe place isn't a bad idea, you have some wild mother nature type things that happen up there.

4. Yeah, I don't usually think too much about survival stuff...
...but lately I've been having thoughts of 50-pound bags of beans and rice, a stockpile of water, firewood and matches...and vegetable seeds, oddly enough. I guess all the paranoia is getting to me a bit. :)

5. You shouldn't eat pizza so close to bedtime.
:D
