Question for Harry Potter fans re: Year 2
Silly probably, but I've been re-reading the books to get ready for #6.

Anyway, in book 2 when Harry gets the valentine that goes:

His eyes are as green as a fresh-pickled toad.....

We never did find out who sent it, did we?

1. Ginny?
I think there's some comment about Ginny blushing furiously when it arrived. Here's an entry from the HP Encyclopedia:

http://hogwartsacademy4.tripod.com/id18.htm

Rather OT, but when I searched the phrases "eyes as green as" AND author, I ended up with this link:

http://www.exposingsatanism.org/harrypotter2.htm

2. Read the link....wow.....serious mis-identification
I really almost can't believe this person is serious. I mean, why on earth would anyone want to believe that their god is Lord Voldemort?

My eyes are green, does that automatically mean I'm evil?

It's useless, I can't even begin to know where to start criticising that article.

Anyway, back to the subject of my original post. I was under the impression that Ginny reacted with shame from being teased about being the sender, not that she definitely was the sender.
But I suppose she's the prime suspect.

Don't they know the name Lucius comes from Lucifer?

this can't be serious

Lurlene Tyranna Shores is the author's name

I think that she's Betty Bowers' cousin or something

6. Experience has taught me
Nevah, evah to underestimate the stupidity of fundamentalists and other ignorant people. I've known people who thought that psychology was a secular tool to lure good Christians away from god, and I've known people who dyed their daughters' hair with green Kool-aid because they had heard that Satanists would be looking for blonde virgins to sacrifice on Halloween.

14. Agreed--
Some fundamentalists once told me that any depressed person who went to see a psychiatrist or psychologist was committing a sin because they didn't have enough faith in God to have their depression healed through prayer.

Oftentimes, these sorts of people believe that nothing except the Bible should ever be read. They also don't generally believe in any form of higher education (such as college education).

They're kooks.

9. !
:spray:

I just watched "The Sorceror's Stone" with my grandson last night. Remember the scene where Nick shows them what "nearly headless" means, by pulling his head partway off, complete with gore underneath/inside?

Nearly Headless Dick could have a whole spin-off series of movies, I'm sure.

10. Holy shit! That woman is seriously messed up.
Makes me wonder what her parents did to her to make her such a fundie nut.

13. A kook--
that's what the fundamentalist woman is.

It is very clear that she has filled in every in-between blank line with weird interpretations of her own making.

Where do some people come up with this garbage?

HP is nothing but a fantasy tale--it's nuts like this woman and their screwball and psychotic theories that inspire the rabble to burn books.

5. Ginny was in her deep Potter crush
at the time. Writing all about him in Riddle's diary, just Harry crazy she was. Must say, Harry wasn't exactly tactful when the singing card was "delivered". Ginny was

11. Since it's not certain that Ginny sent the valentine, it's been suggested
that Fred and George may have sent it as a joke. (Lots of very detailed speculation on every aspect of Harry Potter at Harry Potter for Grownups (hpfgu).
