Anybody know what year it is when HBP ends?

Officially, it's 1998. Dumbledore is nearly 154 years old.

3. Go to the extras in the DVD of movie 2.
Harry enters first year in 1991.

He would have entered sixth year in 1997.

Thus, Dumbledore dies in 1998.

6. Harry is in his sixth year, not seventh. . .
1991 was his first year, so 1996 (September) is his sixth year.

...Nick was celebrating his 500th Deathday. He was killed Halloween, 1492. Just read CoS again, noticed that little tidbit. Unfortunately, it shoots the whole "wretched president" being GWB theory down.

that she was talking about the Shrub, HP timeline notwithstanding.

At least that's what I'm going to be telling MY grandchildren in 40 years.
