On the Lighter, (or perhaps sicker) Side... La Petomaine (sp?)...
This interesting individual lived during the latter half of the 19th Century and was quite the headliner of his day. It is said that he could "play" quite the repetoire through his derrie aire at will. He would do requests and would often be on stage for an hour or more.

Personally, I find this a little more than I could take, and I think his "instrument" of choice is a bit much, but, (no pun intended), he could pack a house and was well paid for his effort. It has been said he could 'play' over 75 different numbers and he was a favorite of European royalty and other somewhat interesting individuals.

And no...I am not making this up...:)

There is always an oddball in every vocation, regarless of the vocation...Wagner would be proud, I am sure....

1. Hmmmm
I could not find him listed in my music reference books! :)

Have you seen this guy? Every bit as talented I suppose but with a slightly different method.

2. Joseph Pujol, or Le Petomane
He was known as the "fartist". Here is a link which gives a good background of his life.

3. A less tolerant man than I might say ...
... that this would be by far the most appropriate way to listen to Wagner.
