Geez, I'm getting desperate.
I keep wanting to type "save me" into Google Search...and no, I'm not kidding.

1. I know the feeling. No doc for two years. That means, no meds
for two years. I've managed all right but driving on the freeway is right OUT and there's no way I could get on a plane, cross a bridge or climb on the roof to clean the gutters. The rapid transit system in our area is probably out, too. I could use my klonopin right about now.

If you do a search, let me know how it works out, Ladyhawk. I'm right there with you.

2. I used to do that jeezuz help me thing. But then I realized 2 things.
First, there ain't no jeezuz, and second, ain't nobody gonna save me but myself.
But only to the extent that I have to get to the right place, at the right time, and an angel or a savior will save me.
That is, give me a job, let me move in, whatever.
Open a door that turns out to be a place, a niche for me, that I can fit into.
But I have to do the leg work. That is the hard part. To go in the right direction, to the right city, state, or whatever.
To turn the right way, or left way, whichever way might end up being the right way.
I'm like the desert fox. He roams seemingly idly thru' the desert, tipping over rocks with his snout, looking underneath for a scorpion to eat, or maybe, delicious, a mouse.
If he doesn't find it, ultimately, he slows, staggers, and falls from thirst and starvation. As long as I can keep going, I just have to keep going.
Good luck to you, but keep going.

3. Nice platitudes, but I don't believe in jeezus either...or in the Internet helping me.

You totally missed the point of my post and I'm not going to explain to you exactly why, after 20 years of suffering, I'm having such trouble doing the leg work for myself. If you don't already get it, you don't understand depression.

13. I know he meant well, but I'm very tired of hearing platitudes...
Edited on Tue Sep-15-09 08:42 PM by Ladyhawk
...and silly metaphors. If it's any consolation I've spouted my own quota of platitudes and silly metaphors. In the end, they don't mean a damn thing.

I apologize if I hurt anyone's feelings. I am only being truthful: It didn't help. I suppose that isn't the fault of the poster. I don't think anything can help me now.

14. I'm sorry if I hurt your feelings.
This "advice" simply wasn't helpful. That's all.

6. hang in there, kiddo.
how's your bird, btw? not sure how those 2 things came together. i guess i was just wondering how much time you spend talking to him(?) it always does me a lot of good to spend some time with my parrots. as long as neither of them bite me.

7. did NOT mean to imply that
pets are a substitute for the kind of help you need. or for human companionship, even. although.....

8. I'm sure the only thing that has kept me sane, or from going insane,
or berserk, or off the deep end, has been my cat, and prior to losing one last year, my 2 cats.
My cat always agrees with me and gives the best of advice. I never get into an argument or fight with him. He never makes any unreasonable demand of me (untimely, yes, never unreasonable.)
Pets are excellent therapy, well cats are, and no, not a substitute for or the same as humans, no.
Dogs are good for exercise, as they take you for a walk you twice a day.
