A Source of Pride
Around January of last year I had a relapse of my depression and the Lexapro and Risperdal weren't enough. I was then put on Wellbutrin but that caused anger, teeth clenching and headaches. I was taken off that and put on Effexor XR, still with Lexapro and Risperdal and that's been the best combo so far. A few weeks ago I told my PCP that I didn't think I needed the Lexapro anymore and he started weening me off it. Since then I have been on 10mg/day or half the dose I was taking. There have been some rough days but there have been some disturbing things happening in the last couple weeks. Yet, I was able to handle them without too much discomfort. Once my current supply (20mg pills cut in half) are gone I start on 5mg/day (10mg pills cut in half) for about 2 weeks and then I'll officially be on just one antidepressant. I'm pretty proud of myself for this. Wish me luck.

1. I celebrate with you, mrgorth, and do wish you luck!
Since it was a decent combo for you, you can always return to it if needed. :-)

I remember well in 1980 (!) when I took my last miligram of a drug that I had been addicted to for 10 years (tranquilizers).....the sense of pride/empowerment that I had from this achievement really helped me continue on my path in a positive way. (I had been slowly suiciding myself with my addiction)

Keep us posted if you want to.

3. I'm off Lexapro
Friday was my last day. I'm on Effexor XR, 1mg of Risperdal and Restoril for sleep. Yesterday was a good day but I was sitting in the sun talking to my parents so that was easy. I also had some good beer. We'll see if it continues. I'm proud.
