Anglican bishop expects members to join Catholics
LONDON (CNS) — A traditionalist Anglican bishop has called on the Catholic Church to accommodate a potential new wave of converts following the decision by the Church of England to allow the ordination of women bishops.

“What we must humbly ask for now is for magnanimous gestures from our Catholic friends, especially from the Holy Father, who well understands our longing for unity, and from the hierarchy of England and Wales,” wrote Anglican Bishop Andrew Burnham of Ebbsfleet, England, in the July 11 edition of The Catholic Herald, a London-based weekly newspaper. “Most of all we ask for ways that allow us to bring our folk with us,” he said.

1. interesting
i haven't studied the anglican doctrines, so i don't know how much of our doctrine is the same. also, will their clergy expect to be ordained in the catholic church as well? i've heard of this happening before but the ministers could no longer have sex with their wives if they converted and were ordained priests - don't know if that is true.

3. Height of Hypocrisy.
These bishops want the Catholic Church to waive its rules against the
ordination of married men in order to accommodate their bias against
the ordination of women - have they no shame? Not even a sense of irony?

4. That is funny
in a way, though the Catholic Church will allow Episcopalian/Anglican priests to be ordained in the Catholic Church even if married.

What I don't understand is that if women are allowed to be priests in the Anglican Church, why are they so opposed to their ordination as Bishops? That just seems really weird to me.

5. I wonder what happens if a female Anglican priest wants to come over to Rome?
They bend the rules to allow married males....

6. There are many Anglicans who don't recognise the validity
of the ordination of women to the priesthood. The Anglican Archbishop
of Sydney, Peter Jensen, is completely anti and won't allow it in his
diocese, and George Pell is of like mind, so we won't be seeing any
transfers here.
