How badly has John McCain screwed up?
Last September, John McCain, who had been identified — even in his own profile filings — as an Episcopalian, began to clarify that he's been attending a Baptist Church in Arizona for 15 years. The important thing, McCain's campaign insisted, was that McCain was Christian.

I guess McCain has given up on the "all Christians are created equal" line with his embrace of John Hagee, noted anti-Catholic evangelist.

What I'm wondering is what the real impact of this will be. So far I've heard from conservative Catholics who didn't like McCain in the first place. Meanwhile Senator Sam Brownback (R-Kansas), co-chair of "Catholics for McCain" is simply claiming that McCain is not anti-Catholic so everything is OK.

I'm thinking that this isn't going to hurt McCain as much as it should.

Anyone else have a different view?

1. I don't think it will have an impact.
Catholics have never voted for liturgical Christiand over nonliturgical Christians or vice versa.

Nor do I think anticatholicism is an issue.

Catholics are almost indistinguishable from other groups in voting patterns.

2. My grandparents and parents have always voted Democrat even since it is a SIN to vote such.
It just goes to show, as I believe, that, the "single issue" Bishops and Priests who have said from the pulpit this week, to vote for a pro-life candidate, they are OUT OF TOUCH with the people. The issue is this: The Pope and Bishops have decided that a "civil law" outlawing abortions is the only solution. Idiots, abortions have been sought since biblical times. It's like prostitution. Making a law against it is not going to eliminate the practice. It's about creating a culture where every pregnancy is celebrated and financially supported regardless of the situation or condition.
