Brother Roger of Taize, 1915-2005
Perhaps some of you have heard of the death of Brother Roger (Roger Louis Schutz-Marsauche, founder of the Taize Community. I do not wish to dwell on the grim details of his death but offer up the story of his life for those who wish to comment and/or pray about it all.

May he rest in peace, and may all those who surrounded him find comfort, and may the good that he did continue to influence this troubled world.

From the link above:

"On the morning of 17 August, after Brother Roger’s death, the following prayer was read in the church:

"'Christ of compassion, you enable us to be in communion with those who have gone before us, and who can remain so close to us. We confide into your hands our Brother Roger. He already contemplates the invisible. In his footsteps, you are preparing us to welcome a radiance of your brightness.'"

1. I read about this yesterday.
It was a dreadful act, obviously a very sick and disturbed woman.
But there's no doubt where his soul will be now.

We do some of the Taize chants at our church, and they're wonderful
for meditation and reflection. I've wanted to visit the community
if I ever get back to France.

3. Brother Roger's life and work has touched millions...
...and Taize worship forms have renewed many a liturgical church. I am sorrowful at his untimely death, but rejoice that he now sees "face to face" the Lord he loved and served.

I am also trying to pray for his killer, a disturbed individual in need of healing.
