Official Kerry Podcast launched

This morning we officially launched the JK podcast. It is available on the official website at http://www.johnkerry.com/podcast/index.html and will appear in the iTunes Music Store News & Politics podcast directory later this afternoon. We have audio and video podcasts of the past two Faneuil Hall speeches.

Additionally, if you don't have iTunes, we have posted the raw files of these speeches to the website.

I'll pass all the comments on to everyone involved in it. For the record, JK has been very excited about this too. :)

As I said, this will be updated fairly regularly. We all agreed that it would be pointless at best, and counterproductive at worst, to have a podcast that was hardly ever updated.

When I click the link, nothing happens. When I do a search within the iTunes music store for it, nothing comes up.

12. It takes awhile on certain computers.

Mine took almost a minute to load iTunes from that link. iTunes can be a really bloaty, slow program at times.

You might want to open iTunes first and then click, and see if it's faster that way.

I waited... I opened iTunes first... it's just not there.

I even did a search within the Music Store for "john kerry"... nothing came up.

EDIT: Problem solved, apparently Firefox isn't compatible...

9. What is everyone doing?

I click the button that says "subscribe to podcast" and NOTHING happens! I click the link to listen to each individual speech and NOTHING happens! What am I doing wrong??

13. Erm

When I click on a subscribe link, it loads an Apple page and a pop-up saying that the link will launch an external application (iTunes) and do I want to proceed. I click "Launch," and iTunes pops up about 20 seconds later....

In the meantime, the browser reverts back to the JK.com page.

What happens with yours?

17. It says "Itunes music store, loading please"

for like split second, then it reverts to the jk.com page. iTunes never actually opens. If I already have itunes open, same thing: I click the link, nothing happens. It doesn't bring up anything in itunes.

EDIT: OK, it works for fucking INTERNET EXPLORER but NOT Firefox. Someone *ahem* needs to fix THAT ASAP! IE cooties! Ick. :P

I don't know what to say because I can't reproduce what's happening on your computer. You need to come here with your computer so we can see what's going on with it. :P No one who uses Firefox has had a failure. Slow, yes, but it did load.

I foresee a huge upswing in ipod sales. Thousands upon thousands of people with wires hanging from their heads an great big smiles on their faces, in gyms, grocery stores and on the streets, all across this great country of ours!

18. Got it to work in Internet Explorer finally

I opened it in Firefox....

Maybe your copy of Firefox has an "issue." I take it that it never gave you that window asking if you wanted to launch an external application. I just searched the Firefox help page and cannot find anything about this problem.

I just thought of something... Are your iPod and iTunes still dysfunctional? If you're still having difficulty with them, that might be the problem.

21. This is terrific news!

I recently switched to Firefox (absolutely love it) because my IE was constantly being attacked by viruses.

Unfortunately, Firefox isn't supported by a few of these programs. I still have to figure out how to get IE to work without the constant interruptions. Spyware removal programs absolutely suck!

I know it's the geek in me, but I find myself wishing the entire, unedited speech were somehow available (and Vanessa's and Tom's, too, but I'm sure that's asking a bit much!) for those of us who are completists. I see the wisdom of something cogent and compressed, but I want to hear every word!!!!

Any chance the whole speech might at least be up at the website sometime?
