Latest Kos scandals
Story at The Democratic Daily:

http://blog.thedemocraticdaily.com/?p=3392

I primarily concentrate on Kos attacking TNR for becoming "right wing" not because of ideology but for posting material critical of Kos and Armstrong. However the links will give a good overview of the rest of this.

1. TNR quoted post
TNR has another response (linked added to end of my original post) quoting out of my comments on Kos.

2. I guess the whole thing is innuendo, but . . .
what bugged me the most were the e-mails from some of the bloggers. This fawning e-mail was enough to make me hurl:

And of the two, I'd say that Jerome is going to have the more difficult time of it. I know that the info this article presents is pretty bare-bones, but to me hearing that he's agreed to some terms with the SEC and is in litigation over financial penalties is pretty devastating. Please don't shoot the messenger, but to unsophisticated folk like me, it's downright damning to hear that one of the leaders of the liberal blogosphere - and one of the people that are closest to the liberal blogosphere's hero (I don't like the term, but there aren't many that fit MArkos better than that given his reception at YKos) - was involved in some kind of financial predation scheme...

Kos -- a hero??? Is this the liberal blogosphere or some kind of fascist party? You know, although Kerry has done many brave things in his life, I guess I would feel very uncomfortable calling him a "hero". And WTF has Kos done to be labelled a hero? These bloggers were troubled by Jerome Armstrong's past, yet when Kos told them to keep their mouths shut . . . they did. Sorry, it is in every grain of my being that you follow your conscience, and if you can't, then you get out of the job/situation fast.

That culture is REALLY weird.

3. Don't know about Armstrong
I can't say for sure if he is guilty or not, but there is enough here for it to be legitimate for TNR to discuss it. Such discussion isn't any sort of proof that TNR is working for the right as Kos accuses.

Going back to the original item in the NY Times, I found the analogies between Trippi on stock boards and teh way tehy promoted Dean to be rather amusing.

I'm not sure to what degree people kept their mouths shut because Kos said so. I'm sure some did. Personally I didn't post on this when the story first broke in the NY Times because I don't know what to say about Armstrong. I didn't want to just post and spread rumors not knowing if they are true, but I'm not going to just assume he's innocent and defend him because he's a liberal blogger.

Ultimately I posted today because 1) the story is all over and my posting would have no real bearing as to spreading possibly untrue accusations and 2) my interest was in the reaction to all of this totally independent of reaching a judgement about Armstrong. Regardless of whether Armstrong is guility or innocent, Kos's characterization of anyone who writes something unfavorable about him or Armstrong as a right winger is absurd.

5. Not a conservative if he support them
You could take two candidates with essentially the same positions and the one Kos supports is a fine pragmatist who the netroots should support because they can win. The one he doesn't support is a DLC truncoat. Choosing based upon electability is bad if it isn't someone he supports, but only makes sense if he supports the candidate.

If Kos was just another blogger among many I could tolerate him a lot more. Its far worse when he is looked on as the voice of the liberal blogoshere.
