Just something personal - I sat with my 5yo while she went to sleep
and the mean, nasty cat she found 3 years ago and we took in, FINALLY laid down next to her and sweetly put its head on her hands. It only took 3 years.

2. Awwww. That's really sweet.
Cats are so undog like. I've had my cat for 3 1/2 years (I got her when she was a tiny, baby kitten who had been abandoned outside) and she is just now becoming a little bit more affectionate. Not a lot more mind you, but she has her moments. :)

6. Some cats are just stubborn
Since I had a roommate & her cat move into my place a couple of months ago, one of my two cats rarely comes out of my bedroom any more. She used to be the alpha cat in the house, and I think she's offended that another cat has come in an assumed that role. Sometimes I pick her up and carry her back out to the living room, to try to get her used to it. But when I inevitably have to let her go, she heads right back to the bedroom. I think she feels it's the one place where she can still be the queen cat.

7. I just love cats, precisely
because they are so prickly and judgmental. When you win one over it feels like a real victory! :-)

8. This was a rescued kitten - I've rescued alot of cats. This one acts like
Edited on Tue Jun-06-06 09:07 AM by blm
a friendly dog following people around and then turns and whacks you whenever she feels like it. She has bitten my daughter so many times just for wanting to pet her. No other cat I have ever rescued (scores of them) has ever been as nasty - she brutalizes my sweet cuddly cats, too. They're all afraid of her.

Basically, she's borderline psycho, but my little girl adores her.

9. Go figure, right?
Your daughter probably sees the cat's deep psychic pain and wants to help.

Did you ever listen to Morning Seditioon? I used to love Maron's dream diaries featuring his psycho dead cat Butch (who was female). Maybe because all cats are only marginally tame, even the sweetest ones.
