1. This type of reporting
has no place anywhere. This shit has got to be stopped.

Yes Virginia, liberals would take over if Democrats win House
By Andrew Taylor
ASSOCIATED PRESS

9:38 a.m. June 3, 2006

WASHINGTON ? If the chips fall right for Democrats and their party seizes control of the House, President Bush's agenda on Capitol Hill would fall into the hands of some of his most dogged opponents.

It's not just would-be Speaker Nancy Pelosi of California, but a boatload of Democrats newly running committees who would determine what legislation gets debated and which programs and agencies get scrutiny.

So who are the chairmen to be?

a Polish-American lawyer with a reputation for making witnesses quiver.

a die-hard liberal from New York's Harlem with 35 years in the House.

a free-spending progressive from Wausau, Wis.

one of the few remaining ?Watergate babies? swept into Congress in 1974.

Snip...

Black lawmakers would run major committees.

Besides Rangel, there is Rep. John Conyers of Michigan, in line for the top spot on the Judiciary Committee; Rep. Bennie Thompson of Mississippi on the Homeland Security Committee; and Rep. Alcee Hastings of Florida at the Intelligence Committee.

Conyers has been accused by former aides of misusing his office by turning them into baby sitters for his children. He is the prime sponsor of a resolution that seeks to investigate grounds for possible impeachment of Bush over the war in Iraq.

3. How is the remotely even "news"?
It's opinion at best, and senseless opinion at that. I have a feeling we'll see a lot more crap like this between now and November. This is the kind of stuff that adds to my "outrage overload".

9. Hey Fedup -- OF COURSE, this hit piece was run in The Pilot!!
I literally had to put down the paper after I saw that article and run into the cozy arms of my computer where I can cleanse myself of that dirt. The article uses all of the code words made famous by right wing radio. It's almost like the writer is spitting out the word "liberal". This is to incite the hatred of right wingers to show up and vote, and scare swing voters who haven't quite signed on with the conservative agenda but who are very gullible. It's irresponsible, and of course, lousy journalism. Political reporting is really lousy, isn't it? I look at Iraq and see a lot of great journalists, even from the WSJ, especially that Time magazine reporter that broke the Haditha story. Then one reads slime like this. Maybe the dirtbag who wrote this should do a stint in Baghdad, so he can learn what journalism is really about.

10. Is it in today's paper?
It is on yahoo news too, except with a different title, "Prospective Democratic Chairs All Liberal". http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20060603/ap_on_go_co/democratic_chairmen

Now the same article that Prosense linked to "Yes Virginia, liberals would take over if Democrats win House"
has disappeared http://www.signonsandiego.com/news/politics/20060603-09

12. I've decided to write every time I see one of these.
Yesterday, I wrote to two of the msm networks and the LA Times about this one.
This is getting really bad, and unless people speak up, it will only get worse. There is absolutely no pretense at objectivity. They just print whatever, no matter how blatantly biased.
Luckily, I seem to get all this crap in my google and yahoo alerts, so they're not diffcult to find.

13. We're only allowed one published LTE every 5 months for my paper
I'm saving mine for the '06 election (I got one printed in April for Kerry and the Democrats).

14. OMG
Edited on Sun Jun-04-06 09:47 AM by fedupinBushcountry
I thought it would be in the Commentary section and instead I find it on page 7 with the underline title "If House of Representatives go Democrat, chairman likely to come from the far left" and pictures.

This is totally wrong. :wtf: are the editors thinking ?

4. I have a feeling we're going to be writing a lot.
Re: "Prospective Democratic Chairs All Liberal"
Is this the kind of bigoted trash you see fit to print on the pages of CBS News' website?
Polish-American lawyer?
Black lawmakers?
Distinct New York accent?
A "San Franciscan"?
Yes, all true. So is slanted, right wing biased hit piece.
I must admit, "free-spending progressive" was a knee-slapper, considering the massive debt this Republican administration has saddled our children and grandchildren with.
Shame on CBS and shame on the AP for sinking to this level. Where's the story on chickenhawk, anti-worker, fat-cat, bigoted, lying, corrupt, obstructionist Republicans?

7. This is mindboggling
The really pathetic thing though is that AP and UPI are both off the walls biased now and all small independent papers that have international and national news use them.
