1. I taped them the first time...
I just loved watching him go at her at the end of the first day. He was brilliant. Fighting like a champion, with patience and poise. But still winning, flustering the hell out of her.

2. I'm so glad the Dems have decided to fight.
To be a real opposition party, and keep these people from doing as much damage as they would have. Bush seems to be a loose cannon now, in a big hurry to do "big" things.

3. he's not going to let them get away with anything
on his watch. I think people are about to fully understand how much John Kerry is willing to do for the citizens of this country.

7. ya know....
I bet he'd be the neighbor that came over to help bail out the basement when it floods. He'd be the first one to give you a lift when the car breaks down. I bet his friends call him first when they need to be picked up--with that smile how could you stay sad?

and yeah, the eyes. Well, just yeah.

8. Geez, after getting 2 1/2 feet of snow
here in Eastern MA, I was wondering who he gets to plow out his place on Beacon Hill. Must be an awful job.

Kerry did real good at the hearings.

A.Q. Khan and what the hell is up with giving Pakistan a pass on letting the US interview this guy who sold nuclear material on the black market. See Debates, Kerry V. Bush, most important issue facing the world, loose nukes. Damn!
Rice: We are on it. Eventually. Maybe someday we will hold a hearing on it or something. Really. Honest. Someday.

Dr. Rice you wrote in Foreign Policy Mag that the military is a very special agent of the govt that should only be brought out for very specific purposes and is not meant for nation building. What are we doing with that military?
Rice: We are nation building.

What is going on with talks in North Korea? Are we applying enough pressure on them or are we relying on surrogates. Are we directly confronting them?
Rice: We are screwing around, have told them we are not going to invade them and are relying on China to get tough with them. (Translation: our military is overstretched and we can't credibly threaten NK into submission. Sorry.)

What the f*ck are you people doing in Iran. That Sy Hersh article is so frickin scary it isn't funny. Do you morons really believe that if you bomb Iranian nuke facilities that the Iranian people will turn against their govt? That is f*cked. They will rally round the flag, just as Muricans would if we were attacked. Are you people on drugs or just meglomaniacs?
Rice: Well, that's classified. And even if it wasn't classified, you lost and we won and I get to do what I want. And it's a good plan. Everyone who engineered the Great Patriotic Invastion Iraq agrees with me Mr. Smarty Pants. So there.

On the record. Under oath. That's my guy.

9. ROFLMAO
that was a brilliant translation!

I'l take the plowing job, if he's there to thank me personally. I don't have a plow, but I'd be his snow shovel slave. :P

10. That plowing job would be a bitch
Those are all narrow, one-way streets. Oh, hell though if you can afford to live near Louisburg Square, then you can afford a garage or something. But still, that has got to be messy. (Those lots are on hills, it's gotta be slide-city when you get out on the non-existent sidewalks and try to get around. I would just stay in DC and tease the Heinz's about the Pats win.)

Those hearings were wonderful! Even the Dems who did vote to confirm in committee raised valid points over Condi and her Iraq program. Tomorrow's floor debate should piss off the REthugs greatly. I love it.

11. I bet Louisburg Square
has its own snow removal contractor. They probably truck the snow away somewhere. Like, say, Mitt Romney's front yard?

12. Hahaha
Thatis where they ought to dump it. I was looking at a weekly paper for Beacon Hill and from comparing notes to other places it really isn't that much more expensive from what I seen listed. Unless you do get right around the Louisburg Square where Kerry lives then that is expensive as hell. Rent was close to 6500.00 a month for a 2 bedroom. Sheesh! But i found alot of listing that were really no more expensive than Boston. But of course you would have to look at what you were renting first. But I don't think you will find dumps in Beacon Hill. I might be wrong but they seem to have alot of rules that require the up keep of the property there.

13. That's true,
but there is a relatively crappy side of Beacon Hill, believe it or not. Louisburg Square is the ultimate upscale area (I just remembered a great story I have about Christmas caroling in Louisburg Square - remind me). It's been a long time since I looked at apartment listings in Boston, though, and the low rent side may have gotten cleaned up by now.

14. The Charles St side?
My brother had a one bedroom condo on Beacon Hill that he just sold for $1 million. He bought a 2 bedroom condo in Back Bay (Essex St.) for less than the Beacon Hill place and pocketed the difference. I am trying to get the use of the Back Bay place for folks who might come to Boston this summer to visit. (This brother was a huge Kerry supporter and probably wouldn't mind if I promised to tidy up afterward. He lives fulltime in Alexandria, VA.)

Louisburg Square is nice. Have you ever taken the tour and seen the hidden gardens? Very nice. I took a history of Boston class once and we went through the history of Beacon Hill and who lived there and who built there and whatnot. Very interesting stuff. (Well, it's interesting if you are a history geek.) I love that architecture, it looks so permanent and stately. (No purple glass though.)

one of my favorite places to walk around in, particularly around Christmas. Which is how my daughter and I ended up caroling at Kerry's house one Christmas Eve. We were just wandering around and these carolers came along and swept us up and handed us books, and we sang with them for a half hour or so.

The Charles Street side is gorgeous - it's the back side of the hill that's relatively slummy.

17. I don't have my map
I'm thinking of the side nearer to Chinese Restaurants and laundramats. (Nearer to the Fleet Street. Damn, my brain has shut down and I can't think of street names.)

18. I know.
Wait, I can look it up on Mapquest - ok, saw it. It's the side nearest to Mass General, the Cambridge Street side. Pretty sketchy last time I was there. When I'm walking around Beacon Hill I usually stick to the scenic side.

20. Thanks! That's reight, it's near the General
It's not that bad anymore. All that pricey real estate did wonders for the character of the neighborhood. Now I'm feeling like I want to go and walk around Boston. I haven't been intown for awhile. I used to like to go for walks around Boston and I haven't been for awhile. Hmm, on the other hand, maybe I should wait for some of the snow to melt. It is a bit tricky to try and get around with 2 feet of snow on the ground. (And no sidewalks anywhere.)

21. City people,
despite the threat of tickets, are really lousy about shovelling sidewalks. My husband and I are positively obsessive about it even though we live at the end of a dead end street.

It drives me crazy that old people can't get out and that young people end up walking in the street.

16. That would be so cool!
Look out Belmont, I got a delivery for ya!

Remember when MA was having trash problems many years ago and Billy Bulger was still Senate Pres. He suggested that they build the incinerator and trash disposal places in Weston. (A wicked rich community. And kinda snobby.) LOL! Ma class politics at it's best.
