During the campaign, Rassmann switched his membership from the Republican Party to the Democratic Party.

Jim Edmunson, chairman of the Democratic Party of Oregon, will serve as master of ceremonies.

Rep. Peter DeFazio, D-Springfield, Oregon Sen. Floyd Prozanski, D-Eugene, and Democratic candidate for governor Jim Hill will also attend.

Festivities will begin with a no-host bar and silent auction at 6 p.m. at the Seven Feathers Convention Center.

Tickets are $35 per person.

1. Thanks for keeping us informed
I'm glad JK is speaking in Iowa and at a college. I love it that Jim Rassman is still out there and involved, he is another true patriot.

2. so nice to hear that Rassmann switched parties.
So many times, when people really start to pay attention and think about it, they decide that they aren't Republican anymore, if they ever were!

3. I would assume in his case that the awakening was very rude!
He is such a good guy and he likely never anticipated ever not being a Republican. He very likely intended to back and vote for Kerry - because he saved his life. That likely told him all he needed to know about the Senator's values. For that, he didn't have to become a Democrat.

It must have really hurt to have the leaders of his party and the entire convention, mock Kerry and inadvertently him in such a personal way. It is beyond despicable that they were so desperate to win that they would lie about a 25 yr old kid exposing himself to death to save another. The convention showed that it was not just a fringe group, but the party that condoned this.

4. despicable only begins to describe them!
That convention--well I didn't watch it, but heard all about it and accidentally was exposed to pictures and clips. The people there were like some mesmerized Moonies, totally drunk on the Kool-aid! (ok I've mixed together two different cults, but you see what I'm saying.)
