Salem News: Kerry on Iraq 3/27/06
Iraq: "I think we have to get out of Iraq as fast as we can. ... Our guys are in the middle of a civil war. Who's kidding who?"

Hmmmmmmmmm.

Sen Kerry confirms the existence of a civil war in that country.
Confirms that US troops have to get out of that situation quickly.
Confirms, indirectly, that the Prez is in denial over this.

Hmmmmmmmmm.

1. What's strange is that this is getting no coverage
This is clear, straight forward and assuming nothing was hiding in the ....., without any equivication - this should be big news. It has to be significant that Kerry, who has warned of window of ooportunity closing and has made detailed coherent plans that were based on military and diplomatic input as well as a view from the Iraqis, is saying we are out of options.

If you combine this with how many times Kerry was right on Iraq and Afghanistan, this should carry some weight. (Is the MSM waiting for Hillary to say this.)

2. No, this was said in a little backwater place
and not in an interview in a big paper or in front of a lot of microphones. I am not that surprised this didn't get coverage. The good Senator needs to say this in a bigger venue.

Oh, didn't he say basically the same thing on Imus on St. Pat's Day?

6. He did - and then it was repeated once on the next MSNBC news
break along side of McCain's - then dropped. Kerry seems to be consistently saying this and he wouldn't if he were concerned with it being picked up - so I wonder why he isn't going for a bigger venue - but last time, even making a great speech for a well thought out plan - he got very little coverage. He then went on many shows. Even then you had pundits ignoring his plan or sounding surprised he had one. So, I wonder how he will communicate a change.

3. This was only covered by local papers.
The Globe and the Herald did not even bother covering that.

If Kerry wants this to be heard by the media, he has to say it to major media outlets. The question is: "does he want to?".

4. I do wonder on this.

It is nearly the end of the 'six-month make or break period' that he talked about in Oct. Looks like it's 'break' to me. I wonder if he is going to be speaking anywhere, in a big address, on this issue in the coming weeks.

I agree that he does need to speak on this. I just wonder if he is picking his moment, like maybe during the next break in Congress' schedule in April. (There is a two-week period. Several people in Congress are heading back to Iraq for a look-see and to investigate what happens surrounding the upcoming vote on the Iraqi Constitution on April 15th. I guess we'll find out soon.)

5. You know JK is always ahead of the others on this issue. I doubt
Senator Clinton will say anything at all about this. It doesn't fit in with her position on Iraq.
I liked his statement, "who's kidding who". I wonder how much longer it will be until he comments further on the new developments and deteriorating situation in Iraq?

Look for the story on the right side of the page.

BTW, I always get a kick out of the logo of the Salem Evening News. (I used to deliver this paper to customers as a kid. I was a 'papergirl.')

10. Thanks.
The witch was the first thing I noticed.

No offense to Mr. Cabot, but Bush is a criminal and a disaster for the country.
