THK news: Keynote speaker at Environmental Symposium
We haven't had much Teresa news lately, so this was nice to hear.

Convention center lures green group

By Mike Wereschagin
TRIBUNE-REVIEW
Monday, February 27, 2006

These days, Pittsburgh convention officials plan to laugh all the way to bank because of Smith's view. Smith, director of the Air Force Environmental Symposium, selected the David L. Lawrence Convention Center for his convention next week.

About 2,000 people from several government agencies, including the Air Force, as well as students from colleges and universities will converge on Pittsburgh from nearly every state and 15 countries for the weeklong conference.

Teresa Heinz Kerry, wife of U.S. Sen. John Kerry and an environmental advocate, is scheduled to deliver the keynote address Wednesday

1. That IS nice to hear.
And how. Most Progressives don't get that support for essential environmental reform is KEY to ANY future hopes for Democratic victory. Good to see our true FLOTUS doesn't have that problem.

2. Teresa news!!!
I was wondering what she's has been up to. Haven't heard any Teresa news since Davos, and not much then. I missed her.
What's up with the trib and Kerry news all of the sudden? Two days in a row, it's a little weird. I'm not surprised they approached this from an economic pov, but that's OK. It's good to see.
With Teresa's connection to the convention center, it's particularly appropriate that she's the keynote speaker.

What was once one of America’s most polluted cities is now, according to Heinz Kerry, one of its cleanest, in part because of her environmental leadership. Like the new convention center several blocks away, for which she sponsored a design contest

5. I was wondering about the Tribe myself. It could be a couple of
things.
1. Readership is down, so now they are trying to reach out to the Democrats they have gravely insulted in the past.

2. Scaife is distracted, having to take care of his errant wife who pokes up and embarrasses him at the most inappropriate times.

3.Both of thee above.

I do like to see the Kerry's get mentioned though, even if it is in this paper.

6. To be fair, the Trib often does a good job when it comes to stuff like
social and art news.

7. I read today that there are rumors of a PG strike
God, I hope not. That would be dreadful.
If it's true, I have a sneaking feeling Scaife would not be beneath moderating to pick up readers, then re-freep once they've hit their subscriber numbers.
I just don't trust 'em.

Does that sound a little nuts? I can't tell.

4. I agree, we can always use more Teresa News
I really like her. She makes interesting and thoughtful speeches and is a charming and wonderful lady. Youse guys in Pittsburgh are lucky to have her as a 'guardian angel' of the city.

She's a wonderful person and we don't get to see nearly enough of our true "First Lady."
