I'm...sorta afraid to go look at my blog.
Haven't checked it since Thursday, when I outed myself as a Kerry supporter for the first time.

My decision to participate on that blog was the result of a story I don't feel like telling right now; the owners and other contributors there aren't haters, propagandists or ignorant, exactly, but they turned out not to be the biggest liberals in the universe, I found out. It's more populist than anything else. Some people there have made nasty remarks about Kerry at times. I stick with it because many young people and threatened-but-still-listening conservatives read it, and even as a youngish person, I have trouble communicating effectively with other younger voters (especially those who were raised by Reagan-loving morons and who don't read real news). Also, I have real respect for some of the other authors there. And, despite what I've suspected for a while was a dislike for my favorite Dems, no one outright flames me for my posts. For the past couple of months, I've been looking at it as an opportunity to slowly, carefully and with reliable information, explain why Kerry continues to be my favorite senator. And I had decided that if people who don't read real news want to criticize me, their comments shouldn't hurt me that much. I could take it.

Still...I actually haven't gone back to look at the fall-out from my last post (which was basically--uh, my beloved John Kerry's sponsoring a filibuster effort, if ya wanna support, here are some swing votes to contact!). In part, it's because I did devote myself to the filibuster effort, despite my pessimism that it would turn out 'well' in any sense of that term, but also, um, I don't want to read about what position the rest of them took on this whole thing or Kerry's role in it. I know, I know, if there's hate, it's not like it's coming from a worthwhile person, but--somebody hold my hand.

You also took a stand for something you believe. That took courage. I am so proud of you. It's not easy to expose yourself to risk like that and it's wonderful that you did do it.

Take the comments with a grain of salt. It helps to try and figure out if the bad responses (if there are any) come from any kind of principle or just from people who are always sort of negative. (Ignore that latter, those people are useless.)

Geez, blue, do you still want to 'make out with him'? (I kind of wicked do today. Cuz that was kind of wicked awesome, you know, standing up, taking the heat and the insults and the negativity and still doing what was right. I think I really love that.)

:pals:

6. Wel, Whome, you have to admit, that is a classic
I mean Our John stood up against steep odds, opposition from his own people and the outrageous slings and arrows of the press and took a stand. (I might swoon.) He gave some outstanding speeches and even had to 'take it' when he couldn't even finish his own speech on the floor! (Really, smelling salts are needed here.) He and Teddy gave unbelievably great and passionate speeches that moved me to the core of my soul. (Is it hot in here or what?)

Isn't that what a classic hero does? (Seriously, I just want to make out with him tonight. He was so wicked awesome. And, sigh, the friggin bastids were out in force today. Sigh! I really can't stand those friggin Quizling bastids. Sigh, when will some people learn that the Republicans are never going to stop being mean to them. Screw them and the horse they rode in on.)

8. .
See, this is what I must remember when I go to check the front page of Jen's-blog-she's-not-posting-the-name-of. People who could criticize, snub or hate-on THIS stripe of bravery SUCK. BADLY.

9. Wow.
Sigh, when will some people learn that the Republicans are never going to stop being mean to them.

I've been thinking that thought all day long, in fact, I've been thinking it for several days. Esp. when it comes to Mary Landrieu - I just want to shake her and say, girl, when are you going to wake the hell up????? It doesn't matter how many times you vote with these monsters - they're still gonna want to kill you just because you're a dem.

I saw on some blog today that a poster said she's suffering from battered wife syndrome. They had a point.

11. Really, we should start to give Democrats lessons in
how to act around Republicans.

1. Scream really loudly: Bite me arseholes. This, this is what you consider a good choice for the Supreme Court? 'We the People' were pissed about that 'the state can take your house' decision that came down last year. What till they get a load of 'the state can do anything it wants' Alito and his penchant for bending over and kissing government arse. This is not going to go over well. You are starting to screw around with things real people actually care about.

2. When Roe goes down, the Rethugs own the results. So, Arlen Specter, when the shit starts to fly and the good people of Pennsylvania turn to you and say, 'WTF?' you are on your own buddy. You can explain to the good people of your state why you failed to stop tyranny when you saw it.

Honestly, screaming 'Bite me' is good for the soul sometimes. It's just good thereapy. I bet John and Teddy went back into the cloakroom and just let loose with a good stream of Massachusetts invective and just had a good 'letting out.' I would have. (TayTay screaming in the cloakroom: You damn bunch of wussies. I've seen bigger spines in earthworms. What the hell is wrong with you people? Bite meeeeeeeee!)

15. Egh. Finally started trying to read the post-filibuster entries tonight.
Edited on Thu Feb-09-06 03:39 AM by BlueIris
So far, I've been able to get through...one. And it's as hateful, non-sensical and divorced from reality as all of the others from that author. (Think: Kos, only more comfortable with his gay identity.) Sigh. He's only one person. There are almost thirty contributors to the same site, some with differing views.

I just....egh. Here's why I've been afraid to keep reading. I like(d) being a part of this project, despite the disparity of opinion represented by it. I was okay with the fact that a majority of the posters have opinons which are radically different from mine, even if it appears that we share a core value system and find many of the same sources of information valuable. But I'm understandably not as enthused about all of this as I used to be. I'm afraid that if I finish reading what was written about Kerry on a blog that technically has my name affiliated it with it, I am NOT going to be able to continue to post there. Just won't be able to do it. Also, I don't need to read any more nasty shit about Kerry right now, I just don't. Assholes.
