Just reading this on Yahoo: Mass. Gov. to Skip Re-Election Bid in 2006
BOSTON - Republican Gov. Mitt Romney said Wednesday that he will not run for a second term next year, fueling speculation he will seek the 2008 Republican presidential nomination.

"My decision comes down to this: In this four-year term, we can accomplish what I set out to do. In fact, we've already accomplished a great deal," he said.

"Serving as your governor is one of the greatest honors of my life," he said. "A year from now, it will be time for me to pass that privilege to someone else. I will not be a candidate for re-election."

1. We'll be dancing in the streets
on the day Mittens leaves office. He'd lose if he ran for reelection here, and he knows it. Now it's the duty of every Mass Dem to tell the rest of the country about what a lying snake Romney is, so they don't get fooled into voting for him.

We get to meet with some phenomenal people and my Rethug Gov announces he won't rerun. Excuse me, I have to go buy a lottery ticket right now.

4. Yeah, there is a very good chance for a Dem pick-up in '06
Dems are Tom Reilly, the current AG and Deval Patrick who worked in Justice in the Clinton Admin. The heir presumptive on the Rethug side is Barbie Doll imitator and serious lightweight, Kerry Healey. (How bright is she: At one St. Pat's breakfast roast she actually made that , "If I had married you I would have been Kerry Kerry' joke." Please!

6. Seriously, she can't tell a joke to save her life.
Boston Globe, 3/17/03

Lieutenant Governor Kerry Healey also took some shots at her boss. (Mitt Romney) She took the podium with a dinner-plate-sized name tag pinned to her chest.

"Mitt doesn't call me Sherry any more," she said, referring to Romney's slip in a radio interview during the campaign. "It might have something to do with these office-issued name tags . . . But I feel a little odd being the only one wearing one."

Referring to the fact that Kerry's wife, Teresa Heinz, added the name "Kerry," Healey mused, "Wouldn't it have been easier if he'd married me? Then my name would be Kerry Kerry."

"But then," Healey went on, referring to Heinz's wealth, and her own husband's, "neither of us would have had enough money to run for office."

"I'm so excited John Kerry made it here today," Healey added. "It's not every day you get to hang out with someone tall and handsome and rich with straight white teeth and with presidential ambitions."

"Oh," she added after a pause. "I get to do that every day."

Honestly, what a cheap and obvious joke. Her routine bombed. She hired better writers last year and bombed, but not as badly. What a lightweight.
