Does anyone have a link to Kerry fighting new Mercury guidelines
Edited on Mon Nov-14-05 11:43 AM by karynnj
I know I've read here that he is one of the people who was leading the fight against it and I remember that he spoke about it on earth day, but I couldn't find anything difinative.

LBN has a NYT article that inexplicably violates even Journalism 101 practices - they mention 2 national groups and Democrats fighting the new Mercury guidelines without naming either the groups or the Democrats. I think Kerry was one of the leaders. Am I being weird in thinking this article is very strange.

I think it's ok to post this as it's not a controversial thread

1. Lots of them
He chaired a Dem Senate Policy Committee hearing in April (and there is a press release on this on his senate.gov web site.)

Here is the transcript for the event:

2. Thank you so much - I didn't realize they actually had a hearing on it
(I kept getting errors when trying to get the press releases on the Senate site.) I posted the names of the Senators and put a link to your post so they can get the transript if they want.

Thanks again

Waaaaay, waaaaaaay, too much info. I have no idea why I remember stuff like this, but I secretly suspect it's why I can't find my car keys sometimes. (Info for old hearings has supplanted the info for where I leave car keys in my brain. Sigh!)

4. Well I wish the rest of the country
could remember even the bare bone events from Summer, 2002 when there were the first intimations that Bush wanted to attack Iraq and the Democrats argued against attacking, especially unilaterally, then getting a"victory" when Bush agreed to go both to Congress and the UN, then the inspectors going to Presdential palaces and destroying missiles, then inexplicably Bush talking about attacking before later in the year when it would be too hot, then the invasion.

It's amazing that so many people seem to have forgotten the entire chronology - I think that's the history -and I don't think I'm re-writing it.
