When is Romney up for Re-election?
Is Mitt a shoe in for re-election? If John Kerry runs for President in 2008, he can't run for the senate. Is there a good Democrat in Massachusetts ready to run? If Kerry resigns when he announces to run for President will Romney appoint. I am worried Massachusetts is going to end up with Republican Senator. If Mitt doesn't re-run for Governor who will? I don't want Massachusetts turning red or even purple. One last question. If the Presidential Candidates are are Mitt Romney and John Kerry, which one will win Massachusetts?

1. He is for reelectin in 2006
His Lt Governor, Kerry Hailey (alias Barbie), will run as soon as he announces he does not run. She is ready to go.

There are plenty of good Dems if Kerry does not run and we get to vote if Kerry resigns (Yeah, Mittens does not choose).

Kerry would win Mass easily, IMHO.

2. Romney term expires next year.
Edited on Thu Nov-10-05 12:56 PM by TayTay
Romney himself probably expired sometime last year, it's just that his hair kept growing. (Okay, that was mean, but true.) I don't think he is going to re-run. He is leaving his evil Barbie Doll behind to run for Gov of the fair Commonwealth of Massachusetts. The forces of good are attempting to get their act together, learn how to forgive each other for that spat we had over that tax bill 3 years ago, and get our friggin act together to smack-down this Barbie Doll.

Sen. Kerry's term is up in 2008. Should he decide to run for President he will most likely have to give up his seat. (Well, mostly. You have to file for the seat by May of 2008, but for all intents and purposes, he runs for Prez, he might have to give up the Senate seat.) 2008 would be a legitimate election for the Senate, no appointment by any brain-dead Mass Govs would be possible. (The Massachusetts Legislature changed the law so that no Rethugs get to appoint Senators anyway. The thought of a Rethug representing us gave everyone the vapors last year and they changed the law.)

3. Romney won't run

because he's a dead certain loser, and he can't afford the loss on his Presidential Resume.

I'd say not only is he not a shoo-in; he's a shoo-OUT. I know that sounds snarky, but it's true. When Romney started his national campaign in 2004 he stopped speaking to the people of Massachusetts and decided to speak instead to the right wingers of the country. At that point he became pretty much irrelevant here, though he doesn't appear to have realized it yet.

There's a great Randy Newman song called I'm Dead (But I Don't Know It). I'd say it applies here. http://www.randynewman.com/tocdiscography/disc_bad_love/lyricsbadlove

I have nothing left to say
But I'm gonna say it anyway
Thirty years upon a stage
And I hear the people say
Why won't he go away?

I pass the houses of the dead
They're calling me to join their group
But I stagger on instead
Dear God, sweet God
Protect me from the truth, hey

I'm dead but I don't know it
He's dead, he's dead
I'm dead but I don't know
He's dead, he's dead
I'm dead but I don't know it
He's dead, he's dead
Please don't tell me so
Let me, let me, let me go

I have a family to support
But surely, that is no excuse
I've nothing further to report
Time you spend with me
Is time you lose

I always thought that I would know
When it was time to quit
That when I lost a step or two or three or four or five
I'd notice it
Now that I've arrived here safely
I find my talent has gone
Why do I go on and on and on and on and on
And on and on and on and on and on

He's dead, he's dead, he's dead
I don't know it
He's dead, he's dead, he's dead
I didn't know
He's dead, he's dead, he's dead
I didn't know it
Who would be so cruel to tell me so?
You're dead!

When will I end this bitter game?
When will I end this cruel charade?
Everything I write all sounds the same
Each record that I'm making
Is like a record that I've made
Just not as good

I'm dead but I don't know it
He's dead, he's dead
I'm dead but I don''t know
He's dead, he's dead
I'm dead but I don't know it
He's dead, he's dead
Please don't tell me so
Please don't tell me so
You're dead!

5. Thank you, thank you.
I only wish I'd written that song. I love Randy Newman because he is always brutally honest, even - no, especially when he's talking about himself. I can think of a whole lot of politicians who could stand to do that kind of self-evaluation, and I'm not only talking about repugs, either. The kind Kerry does every freaking day of his life.

I loathe Romney. He's a shallow, opportunistic liar. This is the part where no one would ever mistake me for a christian - I hate being lied to, I am very slow to forgive, and I never forget.

Lovely. I concur. (Don't screw with me. You wouldn't like it.) Ah, MAssachusetts.

BTW, we have wicked awesome Senators. Uncle Ted was great this morning. He made wonderful points in his colloquy with Sen. Warner over Iraq.

Sen. kErry was also great. We are lucky to have these guys. I get all misty about it sometimes.
