Wow - interesting article about Kerry in Aljazeera.com
http://www.aljazeera.com/cgi-bin/news_service/middle_east_full_story.asp?service_id=9949
Full of Kerry quotes on Libby, speech at Georgetown.
Hmmm - wonder what made them write this?
I feel that it is a slam to the bushiters.

The title of article really bothers me tho.
An alternative strategy for the U.S.-lost war

I dunno - it makes me feel sad to see them call this our lost war.

1. The sad part is that they got it better than our free media
That has to show you how it has become a propaganda tool for the right.

(and it is our lost warm, unfortunately, as are all wars that should not have been).

Has our resident made a comment about this yet????

http://www.iranmania.com/News/ArticleView/Default.asp?NewsCode=37120&NewsKind=Current%20Affairs
headline:

Kerry condemns anti-Israel remark by Iran Pres.

Our President is getting some internation attention!
- they pay attention to him internationally, but not in the US?

3. Anyone see the movie "Control Room"?
I mean it's interesting that Kerry made al Jazeera, but since they're kind of for the insurgency (I understand they are beginning to weary of all the Iraqi civilians being killed, but they are quite anti-American), I don't think this is a good thing, and will be used against Kerry by the right wing. Did you read any of the comments? What an awful conversation -- you had lefty freepers, supporters of terrorists (romantically called the "iraqi resistance"), and then right wing Bush supporters. Nothing interesting said at all. I guess I hate extreme polarization where everyone has a talking point, but nobody wants to compromise and no solutions can be found. I agree with the Army Major in that movie who put Fox News on one side and al Jazeera on the other. Al Jazeera is just as biased as Fox News, but in the opposite direction. The Iraq War isn't exactly "lost", it just hasn't been won. Beware of their propaganda.

4. By the way, if you haven't noticed, when it's us Americans talking
about stuff I'm a huge critic of the Bush Admin. But reading someone refer to the insurgents, who seem to have no problem at all blowing children up and chopping people's heads off, as the "iraqi resistance", that's when I've reached my breaking point. I'm a critic of the lies and mistakes of *, but that doesn't mean I have ANY sympathy whatsoever for these people who are killing and maiming not just our soldiers, but innocent Iraqi civilians EVERY SINGLE DAY. It's like what John Lennon said from "Revolution":

"But when you talk about destruction
Don't you know that you can count me out."

Just thought you guys should know where I'm coming from, and my harsh critique of al Jazeera for trying to sentamentalize and romanticize a bunch of thugs.

6. I agree that praise from Al-Jazeera hurts not helps
but this article is more a statement of the facts and in fact seemed dirivative of one of the other other articles that was posted. What did seem sad were the readers comments. I looked at these to see who would post at an English language Al- Jazeera. What I saw were mostly Americans, Canadians, and some from the UK. They were in general a pretty sad bunch.

Even though Kerry says the war in Iraq is not yet the war in Vietnam - the reaction to opposition on this war is already being treated worse than the opposition to the war in Vietnam. What's frightening is you can see how the right uses this, with echoes of Vietnam. The problem, in both cases, is how do you demand change when things are going wrong without incurring a huge cost to it. The RW has been saying that "the same people who lost Vietnam, are trying to lose Iraq". As it costs them personally nothing, they would rather continue as is than admit a mistake was made or that there is a need to change course.

Of the Americans:
- one didn't vote (strange that someone cares enough to read Al-Jazeera reports of a speech from the losing candidate - you would think you would have at least some preference
-many repeat the same RW lies - That Kerry in the Senate missed 92% of the votes and was perceived as wishy-washy. (I have heard the 92% claim on talk radio) They also repeated the he is against the war after he was for it.
- The odd thing is that away from their native habitats, I can't tell if these people are RW or LW

5. aljazeera.com is a GOP RW cover site that intentionally twists Dem remarks
into sounding unpatriotic.

It is NOT affiliated with the real Al Jazeera.

7. Thanks BLM
This is good to know. That's pretty evil because they can then turn around and quote it. (I completely missed that even the url aljazeera.com is (I think) American - I know all the British ones have .co.uk instead of .com)

So I quess the readers comments are no surprise then.
