AFL-CIO. BTW would a corporationist have a 90% lifetime record from the AFL-CIO, his AFL-CIO record is actually higher than Dick Gephardt's, now to be fair, Gephardt in the mid 80's changed from a very moderate all around to a more populist dem. I was surprised to see him get called a DLC corportatist when Gephardt was the biggest champion the working person had. I wanted him to be Kerry's sec of labor. I think Kerry lost some points on his AFL-CIO grades perhaps because of his support of NAFTA and PTNR with China.

5. Kleeb You Should Add This To The Biography Thread
This is imformation that should be put with all the rest we have compacted in that thread. That is like our research thread as well as biography. I have added imformation on his senate career in there myself. I think it is a good idea for others to add what they can. And this is something I think should be added.

3. Makes me want to cry
Look what we lost. The person who blazed the trail on every liberal issue in the last 20 years, who never took a dime of PAC money, who never leaves anybody behind, never forgets, never gives up; and we couldn't get the Democratic Party behind him. Too "liberal" for the red states, not pure enough for the looney left.

6. At least he's still a Senator
I'd rather have him as President but I'm also glad he retained his seat.

9. This is why I voted for him
He has a highly respectable record as a consistently progressive vote in the Senate. Consistently progressive. That's what made me so mad about the smears. They never should have stuck. There is consistency there.

Some of the labor stuff is and has been a problem in the past in MA. Could be better. I am deeply hoping that Kerry continues to see the problems inherent in UnFair Trade. That is the basis of the up and down labor votes. Pointing out the inherent problems with the tax code that favors outsourcing is a good thing to do. I, as a constituent, will 'push' for more.

10. Besides being senator for MA,
he can be a shadow president for us all. A kind of moral leader for the grassroots, to see us through until the sun shines on the Democratic party again.

I do think we need to fight this anti-Kerry stuff at DU. Everyone will jump on the bandwagon and construct a false version of what went down this election cycle, and of who Kerry even is. A lot of people didn't know much more about him than what they heard at the convention, so it's easy for them to believe myths others want to construct. So fight on, Kerrycrats, fight on.

4. if he had bin laden in his attic
I think that would have clinched the election. Yep- he's such a waste, isn't he?

If that record isn't good enough for all dems, I don't really think anything is. It isn't his record they don't like. That sounds better in the posts than the truth though.

7. I once saw someone say
that if he lost his seat, it wouldn't be a loss just like Daschle wasn't a loss. Now, I don't know what kind of strategy these dumbfucks have but apparently, it doesn't include winning elections or retaining Democratic seats. Kerry is a reliable vote. Yes, he's voted for things I highly disagree with, but all in all, he's a very progressive Senator, damn it!

8. {sarcasm} Man, that's all bogus facts, put out by THE PARTY MACHINE
Don't you know about THE PARTY MACHINE, John? The one that sent its secret agents into every caucus in Iowa. The one that holds clandestine candlelit meetings in Zell Miller's basement chanting "third way...third way...third way" in front of an altar where Al From stands dressed in a blood-red robe yelling at the top his lungs: "Welcome to THE PARTY MACHINE!!!!!!" followed by evil, nasally, hoarse-throated malevolent laughter.{/sarcasm}

Seriously, I'm not sure why I even bothered to reply to that poster who called Kerry a "Bush-lite coward" that was "chosen because of the party machine" in the "I like Kerry" thread in GD Politics. But I did mention you as one of the people on DU who strongly influenced me to take another look at Kerry, for whom I had previously had ambivalent feelings at best. Keep on putting the truth out there, Kleeb. :toast:
