Joe's beard
I saw this pic in that other thread and decided Joe's beard deserves a thread of its own. I'd seen him on CSpan and forgot to mention it. Is growing a beard the first step back to true liberalism, ala Al Gore?

1. I'm glad he did!
His neck looks pretty bad without! Yeah, he looks much much better now. Ha--and maybe Bush won't kiss him anymore!

4. He looks older to me
maybe he's growing it because his ma died.

So what's up with this guy anyway? I thought he was Mr. Nationa Security, and suddenly he's more interested in pork for his state. I had some repect for him based on his obvious feelings about national security, but then he just turned into Biden on me. What gives?

3. Has anyone ever seen a photo of JK with a beard?
I haven't, I was just wondering if anyone else had. I remember seeing a photo of Clinton (Bill) with a beard back in his college days, but never John. On second thought, he really doesn't need to mess with perfection now does he?

He's always been clean-shaven, even when he was a radical leftist. Tongue-in-cheek, tongue-in-cheek. And I've been watching that face for a l-o-n-g time.

6. That would be odd
His face is too long and narrow for a beard. It would not look good. I posted the pic of Kerry in his motorcycle jacket and in jeans on another thread. I like that look.

8. I agree, I don't think a beard would work for him
I saw your motorcycle jacket and jeans photo - that works!

9. i think it has to do with his mother's death
Edited on Thu Jul-14-05 10:48 PM by JI7
part of his religious practice may involve growing a beard for a period of mourning such as a parents death.

<Jewish law requires that a man grow his beard wild (in mourning) until ‘his friends reprimand him’. Therefore, if one's profession or status requires it, one can already shave when shloshim ends.>

14. I think the beard looks good on him
Joe never had much of a chin, and the beard helps disguise that. I don't think JK would look good with a beard. His face is already fairly long and his chin is prominent. A beard would only exaggerate those features.

15. I think Joe's beard
looks pretty good too. It gives him gravitas.

I didn't realize his mother had died; that would explain the beard.

16. And it would creep me out
It just would. It would mean the man had been replaced with a pod person. Yuck.
