CSPAN Road To The White House
Has Senator Kerry been featured on this program this year? I was just wondering because I just saw Sen. Barfbag on there (I saw him, but I couldn't bring myself to watch him). I've also seen Edwards, Biden, McCain and Romney (maybe more, I forget), but I've yet to see our man John. Has anyone? Maybe I've just missed him.

1. The Feb JFK Award to Sen. Kerry was shown as part of this
series back in March. The video for that event is available anytime on the C-Span web site. It was really good. (He told a couple of funny stories, made a good speech, had a nice sit-down interview with Tom Oliphynt of the Globe and eveyone seemed to have a good time.)

I haven't heard of any more appearances yet in either NH or Iowa or SC that would warrant some coverage on this program. But it is sooooo early. I think that Sen. Kerry has been travelling around and making speeches, particularly on the Kids First tour, but they haven't been filmed by C-Span. (Sigh!) I'm sure he'll start to show up soon.

3. I saw the JFK Award show
but didn't realize it was part of Road To The White House series. I know it's really, really early, I just want to see him! Not having C-Span 2, I don't get to see him as much as some folks do. (Not that I'm jealous or anything. :) )

5. There is a ton of stuff on the C-Span web site

Really. There are appearances that go back through 2002 in the C-Span archives. use the search archives feature. I looked at the stored 30 minute press conference from Feb 2003 when Sen. Kerry announced that he had prostrate cancer. (And I still think the BGlobe reporter was a dick to Kerry, but cie la vie.)

Hmmm, me thinks that the tall Sen from MA is due for some speechifying in the woods of New Hampshire soon. Johnny Sunshine was up here not too long ago, the Rethugs have been thick as thieves up here for awhile. It's time for Sen. Kerry to have a few words up here at one of the dozens of Dem Party functions. Way past time, I'd say.

I should think that Kerry will find some time to do some speechifying during the August break. After all, what would yo rather do, hang out in Nantucket and hit the beach or go to a party function with Dems in NH? (Okay, but I bet he goes to NH anyway.) The July Senate session looks waaaaaay busy.

BTW, keep your eyes on Tuesday's Foreign Relations Committee hearings. Should be a friggin doozy, all things considered.

9. With Kerry
I didn't know he had that type of cancer until I read about it here.
:( How is he doing with that? Does he have treatments and stuff? My grandfather has lung cancer and even though he's doing well you always do worry. I hope Kerry and his family are okay.

11. Hunky dorey, far as I know.
But Sen. Kerry did go through a difficult patch. He lost his Dad in 2000, his Mom in 2002 (right around the time of his re-election to the Senate and that awful vote on IWR and all the stress associated with 9/11 and the build up to the war. He Mom died in the fall of 2002, he found out about the cancer eight weeks or so later. He had the surgery in Feb, during which time he was out of commission for both the Senate and the early 04 primary stuff and let Dean get a headstart on all the early functions. Sigh! It was not a great time, I don't think.)

Last I heard, the Senator was cancer-free and fit as a fiddle. (Minor knee stuff not withstanding.)

4. I don't think the Senator has made any campaign
style appearances of late. He did earlier. (I wish the appearance in Texas was on C-Span. That sounded lively as hell.) The pics from that Austin event are my favorite Kerry pics ever. (I forwarded them to the KErry staffer I met at the MA Dems Con in May.) Yummy, yummy pics. What a nice smile.

What was I saying?

Gawd, what a great pic!

This was the thread on the Texas group about the appearance. Well worth the read.

I lost the addy of the web site with the drooly Kerry pics. (Best I ever saw and I have been seeing Kerry in my home state for years and years.)

That link to the Texas appearance didn't work for me. I was curious to see that. He does have the biggest 100 watt smile ever!

pirhana, I see Kerry in that same sort of light. He is just a hero to me! President or no president, he is a hero.

:loveya: Just love Kerry. Here's my new favorite current photo of Kerry.

There was a woman behind him with a Kerry sign up but I cut the picture down.

I found it in the archives of the Texas forummon DU and the date was around 4/22/05. (If the above link doesn't work again.)

17. I've seen him on CSPAN
but never under that tag. I wonder if they're ignoring him on purpose.

19. I don't think Kerry is going to make too many appearances
on Road to the White House until next year. I think he is re-grouping, building an organization and re-connecting with Massachusetts as their Senator. All good things to do. He can start the speechifying stuff at key primary locations later. (Although he might pick up in the fall. I don't think they'll be much in August, it's kind of the doldrums, nothing much gets done. Although, if * nominates a douche-bag for the SC, all bets are off.)
