1. Kerry will be speaking but
it is after Sen. Lamar (The cure for insomnia) Alexander speaks. (Around 4:00 pm or so.) Take some NoDoz and see if you can make it to Kerry's speech.

I will miss it. Recap needed.

2. Anyone from TN who can explain Lamar
I don't get this guy. He talks like English is a foreign concept to him. He equates strange things together like Chet Atkins and Going to Mars. Ther eis something not quite there with this man.

5. He's a country singer.
He passed away about four years ago. He used to hang out in Downtown Nashville on Music Row.

8. I am not kidding
We just had the CMT Fan Festival (formerly Fan Fair) and all these people in cowboy hats and cowboy boots is amusing considering it's been hot like fire down here.

4. I can

He is just plain bad, not to mention those hideous red plaids he wears on campaign trails. Although I was a child when he was governor, I can't remember him accomplishing much later on. He did bring the Nissan/Saturn car plant to rural areas, but he didn't do anything else except become president of the University Of Tennessee until some money scandal chased him away. I remember he tried to run for president I believe in 96, and work in Pappy Bush's cabinet saying he wanted to abolish the Department of Education.

It's still a mystery as to how he got elected. Some say it's because the TN Dems didn't put of a good candidate (former Congressmen Bob Clement), but he is not a good speaker. In fact, my parents joked that every time you see him interviewed, it always looks like he has a hearing problem.

To make the long story short, he hasn't done anything in the Senate. I don't see him in TN much during the Senate recesses, but as a minority, his refusal to support Anti-Lynching is shameful.

P.S. Tay Tay, saw the shoutout you left in the CAFTA thread. It's cool to disagree. I guess the Dems vs. Dean infighting kind of made me become defensive. :hi:

As far as the plaid shirts, that was/is the most country hick looking trash ever. He and the Cat Killer aka Frist are boring speakers with zero charisma period.

Was it because he was perceived as more moderate or what.

14. I don't know what happened
Sen. Cantwell said she wold speak, then Lamar, then she specifically asked for time for Sen. Keryr. Then no Kerry. Don't know why. (I guess something came up.) The Amendment will be voted on at 10 AM on 6/16.

(There is a possible Kerry sighting tomorrow at the Identity Theft hearing for the Commerce committee. Lots of FEC folks speaking.)

16. Yeah, but that was earlier in the day
The meorial service was at noon or so. It could be that he took the Dem shuttle to go to Sen. Exon funeral today. (That's why there were no votes tonight.)

17. You may be right.
I noticed that he left rather quickly after the second (or was it the first?) vote today. Usually he hangs out for a bit. He seemed in an awful hurry today, though.
